| David Villa cost less than that. He has only scored 31 league goals in his entire career, and most of them not even in the top flight. That right their is way most managers buy foreign players. | |

| i wish the american group would have spent a bit more wisely earlier in the transfer window, as it just seems like panic buying
especially as we are supposed to have enquired about micah richards and were going to offer upto 20m for him, when what we need is a left back

| Money aside, I think Carroll will be a good signing (coming from a sunderland supporter). A full season, injury free, and i think he'll score goals - a bit like Kevin Phillips did for us the season he scored 30 goals. Defenders don't know how to mark him.
Add Charlie Adam to the mix along with that Surarez fella and I think a late challange for 4th place could be on the cards

It has indeed gone mad - Quote :
- As we approach the last two hours of the transfer window, I can tell you English clubs have already broken the £100m barrier for transfer fees spent this month - and that's before the mooted deals for Fernando Torres, Andy Carroll and David Luiz are taken into consideration. Unbelievable. By way of comparison - just £29m was spent by English clubs this time last year. I repeat what I said at 1830... English football has gone absolutely mad.

| So a man who has only scored 31 league goals, has been sold for £35mil(that's over £1mil per goal) and didn't even finish as top scorer in the championship, you know there is something wrong with the game.
If Citeh had spent that much on him they would be getting absolutely slated.
Why is it that being English with an overwhelming sense of importance automatically doubles the transfer fee?

Why is it that being English with an overwhelming sense of importance automatically doubles the transfer fee? how much can we get for Maynard then as he was the highest scoring striker last season in the championship, wouldnt care about Crewe's 20% or so if the fee was £35 mil

| thats why the torres transfer has left a sour taste in the mouth of liverpool fans, if hed have just stated at the start of the month that he wanted to leave, we would have had more time to get a replacement for him and not had to panic buy and pay at least double the price for a player thats proved nothing and has a lingering injury with no definitive return date
and what sort of pressure is there gonna be on carroll, replacing one of the best strikers in the world and costing a frankly astronomical fee could just be too much pressure on him
and for us, im just not sure, these 2 additions must surely equate to a change from our tried and trusted 4-2-3-1 formation, and playing to carrolls strengths require a couple of decent crosses in the team, our best crosser is playing out of position at left back, and we dont really have any natural wingers (apart from maxi, but hes also playing on his weaker side)

| anyone else thinking if utd really run away with the league in the coming weeks then it's a massive WIN for football?
a squad was built, it has gelled over the years and there has been no crazy spur of the moment signings for the feck of it. Proves Fergie is still at the top of his game in a way.
united 1st and arsenal second would be a nice refreshing outcome imo, showing that sticking with your manager will work, building a squad is better than signing a new one each time around and team spirit will always conquor the quick fix.
it will probably be the last time a properly thought out squad will win the league though

it will probably be the last time a properly thought out squad will win the league though Agreed!. If we don't win it and even though it hurts me to say it, I hope Arsenal go on to win it. I do think there will be a clear out in the summer, some of our guys seem to have taken a step backwards, especially the midfielders. But I don't see us making any big money signings, unless its a keeper.

| I think Jordan Henderson will join you's in the summer. Apparently United bid for him in Janruary but we said wait until the summer.
What do you think about Gary Neville retiering? I thought he was a very good player for you. Very Solid. Nothing special but did the job.

| Yeah I read about the Henderson thing, can't really say I know that much about him tbh, he any good??
Gary Neville was great for us, one of the most consistent players every season until the injuries, and he will rightfully go down as a legend. He made the very most out of the bit of talent he had, You can't really ask for more than that.

| Jordan Henderson has been great for us until Sir Alex showed intrest then his foem has dropped. If we get 10m for him i'll be happy. He runs all day long but he is the only midfielder who I know who doesn't leave the pich with a dirty shirt. Never seen him make a tackle. As a replacement for Paul Scholes - i'd look else where tbh. | |

dunno why he persisted in keeping that twatty tache though

jesus, school of gradi by the sound of it haha, who's coached him? always good to have a playmaker who doesnt get into trouble though when you are a team who dominated possesion a cool head is usually helpfull. not that keane and scholes struggled to become world class of course lol

| after yesterdays goal fest, our match wasnt gonna live up to that, but i dont care too much about that, the simple fact is today chelsea needed to win to capitalize on slip ups from arsenal and united, and they were toothless in attack today, torres demeanour looked as bad as it has been for most of the season and none of their other players really punished us
carra being back for us seemed to make the defence act calmer (although a little too calm at times) and if martin kelly continues this form, he should be getting a call from capello before the year is out
