Premiership Football made it's return yesterday. Seemed like a good start. Haven't seen any goals or anything yet, going to watch Match of the Day in a bit.

Over the moon with our 1-1 draw at Anfield. Seb Larsson's goal was meant to be a peach. Haven't seen it yet though.

I had a sneaky feeling Newcastle would get at least a point yesterday and I can't see Chelsea winning at Stoke today either.

yeah unfortunately sebs goal was a goodun, really think we should have won the game, and i have no idea how richardson stayed on the pitch as that was a clear red card

and joey barton is one lucky asbotwat, the fa should hand him a ban for that brawl

Larssons goal was a peach! Agreed, Richardson should of seen red. I think it was a goame of two halves. Liverpool all over us 1st half, we were the better 2nd half so i thought a draw was a fair result.

Now onto Joey Barton - bearing in mind i'm a Sunderland fan.

Do you think if it was anyone else apart from Joey Barton it would have been given all the media attention it has now? Joey Barton the man of the football field I can't stand. Joey Barton the footballer I think is a great footballer. He was stupid to dive and role about the floor the way he did.

I just think because of his off field behavour his football takes a back seat and everyone wants to get on his back.

if anyone did what he did to instigate that brawl, id expect the same punishment, even though this is joey barton we are talking about, i was shocked at what he was lucky none of the officials saw it, as it would have been a definite red, and whilst im not surprised gervinho went for a pussy slap, his red card should stand, but only if the fa punish barton, as i see it you cant give one of them a multiple game ban without the other getting the same punishment

wilshere got it spot on. What Barton did was on the field assault. Was made worse as gervinho grabbed him back and they were both at it, but the one reason he got sent off was because of old joe. Dive or no dive you are NOT protecting football honour (pretty much his loony reason) by hauling him up off the floor and instigating a 'fight'. But ref was walking off at that moment so it's the fa's DUTY to ban him. Pretty god awfull start to the prem in terms of discipline; headbutts, diving, stamping, fighting, asking for cards, whining at refs. It's back alright

Game is rotten to the core, but i'd have understood if he lashed out at song, but for a possible dive? no chance

Quote of the day was Wenger "What right does he have to come and shout at the 4th official" or something to that tone, after the stamp. Worse than "I did not see it" Wenger seems to see himself as "above" barton

I believe the stamp was a good 30 mins before the Gervinho incident so he had a chance to calm down.

But the question I ask is who wouldn't go down like a bag of shit the same way Joey Barton did.

love how people everywhere are acting surprised about kun. Just because he isn't messi doesn't mean he isn't one of the best in the world. Same when silva arrived because he wasnt iniesta or xavi. City and liverpool and chelsea could all finish above utd. Will be interesting.

Sunderland were better in the 1st half, Newcastle were better in second half. we need a striker though. Canny gutted about the result but I have no complaints. They took their free-kick well. Will watch football first this evening to see if it was as bad as it was on the radio.

i cant see how wenger keep his job unless he makes some significant transfers before the window closes, as at this rate, i can see us easily topping them for the cl spot, id also put spurs (with or without modric) ahead of them and atm they arent even on the level of a stoke or villa

its at that stage now where he is too stubborn for his own good, and if the arsenal board want to keep in the cash cow that is the champions league, they need to either sack the manager or get a director of football type to do the transfers wghich i cant see wenger ever agreeing to

and as for the names out there to take over, there will be the usual suspects when a top job is available in hiddink, van basten and rijkaard, as well as others like ranieri and ancelotti

any team who's players dont care and just get sent off willy nilly needs a new manager to shake things up. Arshavin should have been off in the first. Two over the top fouls, shows signs of not wanting to play for a team
