Why Capello brought Wright Phillips on I don't know, the left side is not suited to him, he should have brought on J.Cole who is a much better player and has a much more full game, and is a match winner!

Also Crouch was a bad choice to bring on at that point, he only really scores goals against crap teams, Defore or J. Cole would have been a much better choice.

And Rooney was shit. He just didn't seem to know what to do, was all over the pitch and was giving away possession all the time. Very dissapointing.

I much prefer watching matches as a neutral.

I also don't think Heskey played class, I think he performed slightly above average which is much better than we're used to with him.

Gerrard was England's best player, I think the goal and the captaincy really lifted his game and after he scored he was really on top form tackling everybody, really getting stuck in, which was nice to see for him playing at England. And in the second half, his crosses were excellent, did everything pretty much right.

Heskey played better than probally 7 or 8 of the 11 so should keep his place.

And rooney hasnt fired in a proper international for a while 1 in 8 i think .

Also why did Milner come off after 30 mins just cause of a yellow wierd choice imo

I didn't criticize Green.

I meant, I enjoyed watching the other matches more than the England one, and I was a neutral in the other matches.

He only looked good because everyone else was playing shit.

Milner was brought off because he was playing awfully, just hacking down that right back, Wright Phillips did better but Cole should have been brought on at that point.

Heskey had one great chance I can remember but yeah, he did play quite well. Taking Milner off seemed a little rash decision to me despite his yellow card, at least keep him on till half time. Not sure if I believe the stomach bug story that the ITV commentary mentioned either.

Agree with Leak about Gerrard, his best England game for a while. I don't think we played that bad, could have been better yes but the USA look a half decent side.

And Milner should be given 45 mins and i wasnt impressed with SWP to be honest would of preffer cole and would of prefferd a fast cb than carragher when king got injured

Milner was playing awful though and would have been sent off, because he just couldn't cope with that right back, so A. Cole had to stay back when he is one of our top attacking players.

Right decision taking Milner off, wrong decision to start him.

I just don't think Heskey had that good of a game, the commentators were praising every little thing he did, even when he nearly gifted USA a goal, and he stopped England getting a lot of moves going by getting about 8 offsides, and a lot his headers just went to USA.

He should have taken that chance as well, or passed to Rooney earlier.

He played okay, better than usual, and I think he should start again, but he's not been as outstanding as everyone is making him out to have been.

Might of been wrong decison to start him but i think principile dont bring him off after 30 mins he wasnt that abd he justified that embarassment yeah he was cuaght out twice out of twice but end of day thast twice given athird fourth or fifth chance we know he can cross and rooney and crouch can head....

Milner was going to get sent off though, no doubt about it, he just couldn't stop the right back, we needed to let A. Cole attack, and with Milner on the left, it was never going to happen, A. Cole had Donavon to deal with, he didn't need the right back as well.

Milner would haven't been able to tackle the right back well with a yellow card just in case, so it was the right decision taking him off at that point, otherwise we might have had a red card, or conceded a goal coming from that right hand side.

J. Cole should have been brought on for Milner, although I thought Wright Phillips played okay, he shouldn't be on the left side of midfield.

but then carragher should of been subbed off after 3 mins of coming on he was so slow and out of depth on many occasions and was lucky not to get a second yellow i rememebr after one incident

Carragher was very poor, shouldn't be in the squad really.

Upson should have been brought on, since really he is supposed to be the next best after Terry and King.

What I don't get is didn't Milner play in the centre for Villa a fair bit this season and he didn't do too badly despite his usual position being a winger. Also with Gerrard, this is the first time in a while I've seen him play in the middle for England so why didn't they try Milner in the centre with Gerrard on the left?

I'm not looking forward to the media over-reaction that is almost certain to occur due to tonight's result. IMO, this was our toughest game in the group (don't really get all the hype about the Eastern European team e.g. Slovakia/Slovenia) and a draw isn't the end of the world. Hopefully we put a few past Algeria to raise confidence again.

We tried that combination against Japan and played terrible, Gerrard needs to play in the centre otherwise he can't influence the game, and he would just cut in from the left leaving A. Cole exposed.

With Barry coming back, I have no idea what England are going to do. We can't shove Gerrad on the left, but I can't see Capello dropping Lampard or Gerrard in favour of Barry and I can't see him choosing to play Rooney up on his own.

So either Barry doesn't play, or Capello is going to have to make a tough decision.

They didnt play Gerrard on the left for the very reason that he played Centmid and was MOTM for england

Yeah, but Capello didn't know for sure that he was going to play that well did he?

So if Gerrard was going to start the WC in the centre, why for seemingly ages, he has been shoved onto the left? I'm all for experimenting but he has started there a couple of times and it never really worked IMO. It's not as if we were lacking in wingers either (Downing, Young, Walcott, Cole etc).

In the Japan game, he played Gerrad on the left and Milner in the centre in the first half and we played absoloutly shite.

It's also a big difference now Gerrad is captain because you want him to be as influential as he can be, hence being in the centre where he likes to be.

Gerrards best position is cm that is a "Fact" as rafa would say and thats why he played there and should always

BTW, who do you guys want to see as the next Liverpool manager. I think you'll go for Klinsmann but I say you'd ideally need someone like Moyes who gets the best out of the youth team due to your alleged lack of funds.
