| So, Day 1 finished, two canny games to start.
Seth Efrica did pretty well, was a great game for incidents after the first 20 minutes. Would like to see them go through to the next stage now, always good to see a ballsy little team do something, bit like Senegal in 2002. Mexico should've buried them and were kinda unlucky but they look shit up front.
France looked a bit pants, going in with two holding players kinda condemned this match to be a bit flat, which it was. They really should have gone for it because if Suarez and Forlan start combining and they don't get a result against Mexico it's gonna be well close. Wouldn't be a bad thing either really, don't like negativity for a team with so much quality.
Talking points:
Can Seth Efrica go through?
Will France get knocked out early?
Tomorrow should be great too, Argentina and Nigeria should be a cracker before we play America.

| France's tactics were shocking. Let's bring on Malouda who's been in the best form of his life and stick him in the centre and then bring on a centre forward and stick him on the wing? Had heard a lot about Suarez prior to the World Cup especially after his huge goal tally this season but he seems to have gone to the Ruud Van Nistlerooy school of offside tactics. Let my lad watch the first half of the game and told him that Forlan used to play for Utd so everytime he saw him he sang 'Diego, wo ooo oh' | |

| Suarez is a good wee player but vastly over rated, the Eredivise is one of the most over rated leagues in Europe, so many crap teams in the league that get nailed more times than Wayne Bidges ex and from it guys with ridiculous goal totals
Not saying all strikers who score shed loads of goals in Holland are overrated, only saying its not only the really good strikers who score a shed load of goals in Holland

| To be honest anywhere you can score 50 goals in a season has to have a lot of shite around, either that or he is the best player ever. Forlan on the other hand scoring 30 in Spain is more impressive.
Did anyone notice how far them two played apart though?
It was the like the two of them were just wingers but had nobody in the middle.

| Is it only 2 games tomorrow too? And how are Nigeria compared to the other African teams?
Think the America game will be closer than some people are saying it will be, 1-0 to England I say, Crouch or Defoe for the winner although it would be interesting if Heskey got it.

Nah, it's Greece and South Korea at lunchtime, never know with these games mind, could be game of the day Nigeria are considered fairly solid but all the African teams have tough groups, especially Ivory Coast who are the best Africans (bar Egypt maybe, but their weird). I'd put them on par with Cameroon, bit better than Ghana but not as good as Ivory Coast but they have every chance of getting out of this group.

| I went for France going out in the group stages in my predictions and feel it was justified after tonight.
Nigeria I think could go the furthest of the African teams, not because they're the best of the bunch but simply due to the them having the pick of the draw. I reckon they'll get 2nd in their group after the Argies then face the winner of group A (my pick being Uruguay), win that and then go out to England in the Quarter Finals.

| Reserving my judgement on the French but they look really soft, Mexico should just attack them and South Africa definitely will. Couldn't happen to a nicer team either Draw for Nigeria tomorrow though and they should be nailed on to get through. | |

| The South Africa Mexico game today was really good - enjoyed it immensley The France game was awful to say the least, I would love to be a fly on the wall during France's next training sessions
Tommorow I have Greece to win, Argentina to win, England to win and Algeria/Slovenia to draw.

| As for Suarez, Real Madrid and Chelsea supposedly want him for 40 million.
I don't follow the Eridevise a lot, but when I do watch the boy has impressed me, his scoring record is phenomenal but he needs to prove it on the big stage. Give him time though he could bang in a few against South Africa and Mexico.
I was pulling for Mexico and France in the games today. Mexico basically because of the football they play and for the fact they still play Caumothetic Blanco.

| take this with a pinch of salt as it's wiki but I found this interesting on Jerome Boatengs file ( germany international joining man city) - Quote :
- He has one half brother Kevin-Prince and with George Boateng (not the current Hull City midfielder) one carnal brother. After the foul of his brother Kevin-Prince on Michael Ballack, Jérôme split up the contact to his half brother.[11]

| Those horns are so bloody annoying though! I had to watch the matches on mute.
The South Africa/Mexico game was good, I thought it was a cracking goal by South Africa, but really Mexico should have won, they controlled that match, and if they were just a little better in the final third, they would have won.
France/Uruguay match was terrible, France should have just taken the game when they were up against ten men, their manager (can't spell his name.) is so terrible, I think they'll really struggle to get out of the group stage.

| Mexico - South Africa match was entertaining i thought. Good opening game.
I didnt see the France - Uruguay game (went to see Pink). It sounds like i didnt miss much. I had Uruguay to get a 1-0 win.
Todays games i think will all be good. Korea to beat Greece. Argintina to scrape past Nigeria and i think England will win 3, maybe 4 - 1.
I honestly think we'll beat USA by quite a margin. The last time England played someoe any good when it really mattered, they put 5 past Croatia. England will win the group on 7 points. We'll end up drawing against Algeria or Slovakia.
