| Blaming the media is stupid, they should be completely irrelevant to professionals. | |

They should but they aren't, you know it as well as I do, they are professionals but they are also humans with a basic range of emotions the rest of us do, they can see and feel the negativity as much as the rest of us do, just because they are professional doesn't stop that fact, they know if they do any wrong what so ever they will be chastisied for the next 2/3 or 4 years until the next World Cup Beckham and Rooney have been the exceptions, they became better players for the abuse but far to many have crumbled David Batty was never forgiven for missing a penalty at France 98, the press turned Southgate into a joke figure after his miss at Euro 96 and Stuart Pearce and Chris Waddle have never been fully forgiven for missing at Italia 90 Look at the way the Press killed Graham Taylor, they where willing him to fail

I'd not drop Lampard probably for the same reason Capello wont drop him, he is a midfielder who scored 27 goals last season, the guy is a goal machine, the only problem is they don't use him the same way Chelsea do England have always tried to play with the best midfielders they have instead of the best midfield

| It's almost silly to say this but it's still true. They are paid, privileged sportsmen and if the media can really affect them then tough. The only people the media deceive are the public by building up their hopes but as far as I'm concerned what they write should never affect what happens on the pitch, it's just a reaction. | |

| people dont know what they mean disco. If they say media means he cant drop lamps then what do the same people say about carrick the man who would have replaced him ' he is shit' cant win. I just want to see the players bloody work for eachother, which they dont. We win ball, we stand idol waiting for someone else to make a perfect pass. 1 reason we cant pass is cos no one gets in space, capello i'f assume knows this, so either he is trying to sort it and the players are too fucking ignorant to listen, or he doesn't see a problem. If its same old england v algeria i give up, no faith in the team to work for eachother and for change and it pisses me off. Were not the best on the ball, were by far not the best off it, we cant defend, so why dont we become the hardest working of the 'big countries' we'd have a chance if we gave it all for eachother, thats how teams have surprise tournaments by being industrious as fuck. Rant over, come on england | |

You're right, the only people the media do deceive is the public but its that same public who can make or break you as a player, if the fans turn on you then you have very little chance of winning them round unless you do something rather exceptional!

| If we do what I expect and grind a poor win out of our next two games before getting knocked out they deserve all the shit that comes their way. I think this generation is about finished anyway, roll on the next wave of players I say, the core of this team has had plenty of chances. But yeah, hope I'm proved wrong | |

But yeah, hope I'm proved wrong Why do you think England have a right to expect any better than that though? What have England done in International football in the last 15 years to suggest they are good enough or experianced enough to do anything else? You're just listening to the media you have just yourself admitted deceive 'ordinary people' and thats exactly what you're National team do as well, they are expected to live up to some kind of standard that hasn't been set in donkeys years

| Cos we have pretty good players that's why, players that should be able to win the next couple of games fairly convincingly and maybe make it to the semi's. I'm not ignorant to our limits but I do think we should have done much better in recent years. | |

| Good players who never come close to winning anything, lets be honest hear, the Premiership is the most hyped league in the World, its nowhere near the best, its the biggest marketed league but Spain is superior and for me so is the Bundesliga, however the press deceive people all the time into believing that the EPL is the biggest and best league in World Football
Most of Englands team wouldn't get in the Brazil team, the Spain side the German side, the Dutch side or the Argentina side

| Wouldn't particularly explain English dominating the Champs League for a couple of years coupled with the fact most players in England stay in the Prem. | |

How many of these English players actually played for these teams 'dominating' the Premiership
