Dominating the Champions League I mean, and how many of the England team do you know that play abroad? Be quite a short list.

Liverpool won in 05, then Arsenal reached the final, then it was Liverpool again and then an all English final before Man U got there in 2009 plus Chelsea being knocked out in a couple of Semi finals.

Exactly, England has been floaded with it and Scotland have been deprived of it, look at the state its had on the Premiership though, the place has sold its fucking soul and the arse is well and truly falling out of it and season ticket prices are at all time highs despite us coming out of one of the worst recisions in living memory!

So, we were talking about the Prem, plus Man U and Chelsea have had plenty of English talent.

Liverpool won it on 05, one of the worst teams to actually win it mind you in living memory, still they won it, Gerrard and Carragher where the only Englishmen I think

Arsenal got to the final in 06, think only Sol Campbell was English

Liverpools turn again, think it was the same, Crouch might have been there this time but still Gerrard and Carra

Man Utd and Chelsea in 08, the English Final, Rooney, Carrick, Rio, Brown, Scholes and Hargreves, Cole x2 Lamps and Terry, 10 of the 22 which is a fair amount

the following year only 3 English players made the United team for the final

So I fail to see how English teams 'dominating' the Champions League should mean anything in terms of International football

Back in the late 70s and 80s English teams done far better in the European Cup when top English teams actually had English players and still couldn't get near the World Cup, struggled to qualify let alone get out the group

The truly top players in the World are playing in Spain not England

We're not really talking about the Prem, I asked you why you think England should be doing well and your listing 'dominating' Champions Leagues ect... when very few of these players get the chance to play it

Because its NOT the best, clearly!

Its by far the best promoted league and most hyped but for out and out talent the Premiership and its plethora of lumpers are miles behind La Liga and for me behind the Bundesliga (although that is open for debate)

Anyway....Very Happy

Back to World Cup crack:

We have New Zealand and Slovakia which could be decent (I guarantee one shit sounding match will turn into a beast Very Happy).

Portugal and Ivory Coast will be similar to Paraguay and Italy probably, both going for the draw.

Then Brazil and North Korea...ouch.

And? did you prove your point? the majority of the England team don't win anything and don't come close to winning anything, the only guys in the England squad who have any real pedigree of winning anything play for Chelsea or Man Utd with the exception of Gerrard and Carra who haven't won a thing for years anyway

Whats Crouch won in his career? whats Defoe won? what about Heskey (granted he had success albeit 9 years ago) these are the guys charged with scoring England goals, Rooney is the only one who has pedigree and does it at the top

Lennon, SWP, Milner, King, Dawson, Upson, Johnson, Green, Hart, James. Warnock, Barry, Crouch, Heskey, are not exactly players who are glittered with winners medals

for me:

La Liga
Premier League
Bundasliga
Serie A
French top division

The reason i say the Prem is better than the Bundasliga is that teams can go from being the worst to the best quite easily and best to the worst (eg Hertha Berlin), the standard is fairly poor overall.

it can be good but the standard of the league is lower which is why i think it's worse, if you want unpredictability i would rather watch the championship tbh

What makes it the best if its not the most entertaining?

I'd say 8 of the top 10 players in World Football right now play outside of the Premiership

Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta, Kaka, Robben, Ribery, Schnider

Because the initial discussion was why you think England have this devine right to win with style thats why!

You used the Premiership as a source of why and I'm saying that the teams who are actually worth watching have very few of these English players in them

We don't, but we have more than enough quality to not just slop through like we have done in the past. Managers of poorer international sides than us can play with more style so why can't we?
