PostSubject: Title Recognition   Title Recognition EmptyMon Apr 06, 2009 7:04 pm

before you read the rest of this article, i want you to know that the following quote below is pulled from the WWE.com site and regards last night MitB ladder match.

it DOES NOT give away any spoilers, it mentions a wrestler (i wont mention who yet, just incase anyone gets pissy) who was involved but the text does not say weather this particular wrestler won or not.

the following is from WWE.com

Spoiler:

its that last bit of text that is getting me confused. his FIRST world title. excuse me but didnt this guy have 2 NWA title reigns in TNA?

I think they recognised Ric Flairs title reigns because for the majority of the the time until the 90s the NWA World Title was considered THEE World Title in Professional Wrestling, particularly by their peers, when Christian Cage won the NWA title I think it had lost all its prestige by that time, I'd still consider them though, however I just feel that at that time it was probably seen the same way the ECW title is thought of now by almost everyone, including those within WWE.

That's probably the way WWE think of it, although the NWA title did get it's World title status reinstated whilst it was used in TNA, and stripped again after their relationship ended.

As for Flair's reigns counting, I've often used the argument that none of his reigns in NWA\WCW were while the company was on top so don't count, making him a 2 time champ only. Just my way of winding up Dr. Oznog who is a total Flair mark. Laughing
