PostSubject: World Cup - All teams have played one game.   World Cup Discussion - Page 29 EmptyWed Jun 16, 2010 5:50 pm

So everyne has now played one game in the 2010 World Cup.

Only Germany had a convencing win (a 4-0 win over Australia) in the first games. Argentina dominated in their game but couldn't finish off Nigeria and gaining a 1-0 victory. Holland with a 2-0 victory over Denmark (one of the goals was an own goal). Brazil had a 2-1 win over North Korea in 'The Group of Death'. Quite a few people were expecting a higher scorline (the other result in that game was Portugal 0-0 Ivory Coast). Holders Italy held to a one all draw with Paraguay. Also, the shock of the World Cup so far, Spain loosing 1-0 to Switzerland.

Now, I haven't seen every game all the way through due to work commitments but I think It is shaping up to be a good World Cup. I think that with all the draws, we could see a few top teams go out early doors.

What are your thought on the World Cup So far? Who has impressed you (team and Player)?

germany obvsiously impressed the most, kind of expected them too, but first game is nice and early so who knows if they slip up later now

seems only a few teams can really cope at altitude/in south africa, alot of teams lacking the creativity needed to break teams down, but alot are just sitting back two banks of four to just block teams out.

players so far:

Ozil (controlled germans)
Fernandez (controlled chile game)
that chile right winger (forgot if its suarez or suazo or sanchez, think sanchez)

Germany have impressed the most in particular Mesut Ozil.

Sexton, the Chile right winger was Alexis Sanchez.

I think Germany won't be able to keep up with the same kind of level of football they have played, although it's interesting that Germany, every player in their squad is from the German league, and the German league was one of the league's that has been playing with the new world cup ball all year.

Argentina really impressed me and I think since they didn't overachieve in their first match that they'll keep getting better and Messi seemed to have been able to recreate his club form, just needs to finish his chances off now, they have a few options up front and I can't see all those top strikers not scoring goals at the world cup so Argentina are looking dangerous.

I don't know what happened with Spain today, but if they carry on like that I can see them struggling to get out of the group.

I think teams are playing more defensively than last year. This year has shown with Inter Milan that defensive football is the way forward.
