Everton Football Club has inked a deal with Sports Interactive to use the bulging Football Manager database to scout players and staff.

Over 1000 scouts compile the enormous pool of data, which amounts to around 370,000 accurate descriptions from 20,000 teams in over 50 countries worldwide.

Now, real-life Everton football manager David Moyes will sift through the continually updated data in the hope of picking out the next big signing for The Toffees.

"I am personally delighted with today's announcement as I'm a Toffees fan," said Sports Interactive captain Miles Jacobson.

"Standing on the pitch with my signing-on shirt is as close to my boyhood dream of playing at Goodison Park as I will ever get.

"We've known for a while that teams use the game to research certain players, whether to buy or to check out the opposition, but this formal recognition by a premiership team is fantastic and we are sure it will prove a fruitful one for the Everton FC," he added.

seems a bit silly seeing as they could of just used it without telling/paying them

they will update all the time though, plus it is good pr, for both things. You can get good general ideas from the game so it is a good idea. Better knowledge of where to send your own scouts etc

but everton have just raised awarness for other clubs this should be done on the hush

but they will surely go for exclusivity? It does say other clubs use anyway, but not in the way everton will.

interesting to see if they do gain owt from it though cause other clubs may just put in a matching bid for whoever they go for

Yeah, but they can do that anyway, just because they are no using Football manager to scout players doesn't mean suddenly teams will start doing that.

It's old news this by the way, think it's been happening for a few years and you can't argue with Everton's transfer record.

The deal probably means Everton will get a heads up on a player from 1 of Sports Interavtive's scouts, instead of having to look through the data themselves.

and junior, it wont alert clubs who everton are trying to sign like the game ffs lol

So it makes no difference whether Everton are using football manager or not. Chelsea can do what you just said then, whether or not Everton use convential means to get players or they use football manager....

You said that because Everton were using Football manager to scout players, it meant Chelsea could just equal their bids and get their players.

But Chelsea could do that whether Everton use Football manager or not.

All this means is that Everton get who they should scout narrowed down a bit because a load of people who work for Sports Interactive have already scouted the players.
