I'm no wrestling booker and I'm fully aware that the majority of these ideas probably wont see the light of day on ECW or any Professional Wrestling television however I like ECW and see threads constantly about how to make it better most of the time its unrealistic as its all about turning ECW into something the WWE clearly don't want it to be and that in itself is what makes those threads unrealistic in my opinion, this scenario is in my opinion plausible as it doesn't aim to change the name, venues, style or time slot of Extreme Championship Wrestling.
This also isn't really a booking of the shows as such, just a way I'd like to see the main event on ECW heading over the next few months
Firstly, I'd like to see the Christian/William Regal feud continue, I think they could keep going with this for a while yet, however I'd like to see Christian continue over the next few weeks to go over William Regal where no matter what he does during a match with him he can't seem to get the pin on him when the title is on the line and after Christian pins him at Hell in a Cell Regal wouldn't be able to contain his frustration much longer, Kozlov and Jackson would be blamed by Regal until Regal finally loses patience and orders both of them to have a match so he can see for himself who the weak link of this partnership actually is, during the match William Regal will come down to ringside and distract Jackson enough until Kozlov catches him with a vicious Head Butt before he decimates him in the center of the ring and gets the 123, straight after the match Regal grabs the mic and gets in the ring and releases Jackson of his duties, Kozlov is looking rather smug until from out of the crowd Paul Burchill and Nigel McGuinness would jump the barrier and attack Kozlov as well, it would be obvious that Regal had no more use for either Kozlov or Jackson but wanted to create enough tension between them to crack their partnership.
Regal would open the show and announce that he has a new and improved team and since is an all English team he knows that this team will be bigger, badder and 100% better than anything his foreign legion could provide, Burchill and McGuinness make their position obvious, they want to win the Undisputed Tag Titles and they want to help William Regal become the ECW World Champion
The Following Week ECW is opened by Vince McMahon who said that he has taken his eye off the ball with regards to ECW and as a true Wrestling fan he felt the need to do something about that and with that The Million Dollar Man's music hits, Ted DiBiase comes out and announces that it was he who had pointed out to Vince that he had taken his eye off the ball on ECW and after a big night out and plenty of "MOOOOOOOOOONEY" spent, Vince McMahon had decided to sell 50% of the ECW brand to The Million Dollar Man, Ted announces that as the new owner of the show he wants a General Manager of the show who knows what it takes to run a proper brand and with that he calls out "the only guy on the books with the experiance" and calls out William Regal, Regal comes out delighted with his promotion and proceeds to book himself into that nights main event for the ECW Title, Vince would interrupt him at this point and tell him that while he is still good enough to compete at that kind of level he knows he has taken his eye off the ball on ECW so wants his new GM to be totally focused on being the General Manager which would mean taking him off the roster as an actual wrestler unless its for a special purpose on a particular occasion. Regal would be given until the end of the show to make his decision.
At the end of the show Christian & Shelton could be teaming against McGuinness and Burchill when Regal comes down to the ring, he would distract Christian enough for Christian to attack him and leave McGuinness and Burchill 2 on 1 on Benjamin for them to get the win and after Christian got the better of Regal, Regal would get on the stick at the end of the night and tell Christian that the good news for him is that he wont have to face him anymore since he is taking the GM spot however the bad news for Captain Charisma is that he is now his boss and he will make sure his matches are worthy of an ECW Champion
William Regal would open up the next show and announce that in his first act as ECW General Manager was to make a signing that everyone in the wrestling world wanted to get, he would then call out Paul Burchill & Nigel McGuinness and tell them that while he was delighted he could put together a team of their class, steel, power and determination as the GM he couldn't lead the team anymore but has found an able replacement and with that Regal announces the newest member of ECW - "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson
They would then have a good four/five week program with Christian/Danielson over the ECW Title where Christian can manage to hang onto the title at Bragging Rights when he wins from Disqualification after McGuinness or Burchill are caught interfering in the match, at the next PPV Survivor Series they could screw-job finish the match, Danielson would be thrown the ECW Title from McGuinness who would swing it at Christian who would duck and Killswitch him on top of the title for the 123, this would bring Regal out who would state that since the title was used to help knock out Danielson the match must continue, after a few more minutes of great wrestling moves Danielson would manage to pin him to win the ECW Title.
Christian could open the show and tell William Regal to get his ass down to the ring ASAP, he was screwed at Survivor Series and he wants an explanation, he would accuse Regal of living his dream through Danielson since Regal couldn't get the job done and that his decision to over-ride the pin Christian got on Danielson was proof if any was needed that Regal is totally biased and can't be trusted to do the job to its full potential, Regal insists thats not the case and his only goal was to have a fair match and since the title was used to help knock The American Dragon out then it clearly wasn't in the interest of fair play to allow the decision to stand. Christian would then invoke his re-match clause tonight and since its his shout and since Regal will overlook absolutely anything that McGuinness, Burchill & Danielson do to him they may as well make it an Extreme Rules match.
The match would end when Regal comes out after a big riot between about 8 guys all fighting all over the place on the sides of both Christian & Danielson and nails him with a Regal-Plex then Danielson picks him up and finishes him off with a Bridging dragon suplex for the 123
Danielson would open up the show announcing that he came to the WWE and to ECW to begin his quest to prove he is the best in the World, he would then go on to say that he has comprehensively proven he is the best in the business anywhere and everywhere he has been and its not taken him long to establish himself on ECW, Christian would interrupt him claiming that he is absolutely sick of the sight of Danielson, Burchill, McGuinness and their unofficial leader William Regal, he insists that while Danielson might like to fool himself into thinking he is the man Christian and the fans know who the real champ is, he is sick of the politics in ECW though and calls out Regal, he tells Regal he has one last chance, he wants a re-match for the ECW title or else! Regal will tell him that he needs to earn the right to win the #1 contendership since he has lost the title and his re-match, Christian tells him he expected as much, totally bogus, Regal tells him that to earn his spot he would have to beat McGuinness and Burchill in a handicap match and if anyone gets involved in Christians favour he will be disqualified, Christian would lose the match and his chance to become #1 contender and he would end the show swinging a baseball bat and announcing that Regal had one last chance and he screwed him for the last time, Christian quits ECW!
The following week on ECW starts with loads of red white and blue ticker-tape (USA & UK colours) William Regal comes out to his music and claims its a fantastic day for fans of ECW since they have finally gotten rid of a pompous little ignoramus who threatened all that was good about ECW, he would then introduce the stable who had been so instrumental in the departure of the 'inconvenience' and out come Danielson, Burchill, McGuinness, Danielson would claim that the former champ (refusing to mention him by name intentionally) was living on borrowed time from the moment he set foot in ECW and told him he was lucky he got the run he did because if the American Dragon had signed up earlier this day would have come a lot sooner. McGuinness would tell him that quitting ECW is the smartest decision he has or will ever make because beating him up last week felt so natural and he could do it night after night, hitting the bricks has been a life saving decision!
Tommy Dreamers music would hit and he would come out and say that while those three guys and William Regal can be proud of themselves they certainly don't talk for the ECW fans or the boys in the back, as Mr ECW he feels he has the responsibility to teach these three some respect and what ECW is really all about so later on in the night they have a 6 man tag team main event between Danielson, Burchill, McGuinness vs Dreamer, Shaemus & Shelton Benjamin and have Burchill, McGuinness and Danielson get the win with Burchill pinning Dreamer while Benjamin and Shaemus go at it as pressure boils over after it was announced that next week both would face off in a #1 contender match for the ECW title which adds more fuel to the fire that William Regal only made that match to create tension between the two in the lead up to the 6 man tag.
Benjamin would win the #1 contendership but lose the actual ECW Title match due to interference, however the following week he would be granted a re-match which he would lose again and while it would be essentially a clean loss the pressence of McGuinness and Burchill would be enough to put him off, however as the bell rings Goldust's music hits and he appears from the audiance and steels the ECW title to Bryan Danielson's dismay
This would be the catalyst for the WWE to either make a new ECW title or re-introduce the original ECW Title, Goldust could claim that he is putting the gold back into the title and in doing so he is hoping to ignite a flame inside the Gold Standard, if red white and blue represent the group that are ruling ECW then he wants to fight the red white and blue with GOLD, Regal would insist that Goldust gives the title back to Bryan Danielson ASAP however in true Goldust fashion he tells "Mr Regal" if you want it "Sir" come and get it and blows him a kiss, Danielson is going nuts in the ring, Goldust then tells them if they want to see the title again then the will have to grant his man a title shot with Danielson and Regal banned from ringside and any hint of interference from anyone attempting to help Danielson will see Benjamin instantly announced with the win and the new ECW Champion, the match could take place at No Way Out and it would be for a nice shiny gold title courtesy of Goldust, Danielson would retain at No Way Out after a very hard fought match.
The next episode of ECW would see Vince McMahons music hit, he would claim that while he is all about protecting his investment he is annoyed that William Regal appears to be showing obvious bias and places William Regal under probation, The Million Dollar Man's music would then hit and he could come out and take Regal off probation and remind McMahon that he has an equal investment in ECW and he feels William Regal is doing himself and ECW proud with making the show a must see product, McMahon isn't happy he is being undermined and tells DiBiase so, infact if he refuses to back him up with his probation order then McMahon has a trick up his sleeve he feels will even it up a bit on ECW, he could then announce that to partner William Regal in a joint GM role would be none other than Mr ECW himself Tommy Dreamer.
Dreamer's first act as joint GM would be to make a Five man Scramble Match for the #1 contendership for the ECW title which will be defended at WrestleMania, Regal give the ECW World Champion one special pick for this match as a show of good faith and Dreamer admits that as Champion he deserves as much, so Bryan Danielson books himself into the match to prove he is good enough and if he wins the scramble match he will be entitled to choose his own opponent for WrestleMania, during the remainder of the show they WWE keep cutting to backstage segments where Danielson is having discussions with the likes of McGuinness, Burchill and GM William Regal, he keeps saying that if he wins the scramble match he wants an ECW Icon to be his opponent at WrestleMania, this interests Dreamer who senses some respect from The American Dragon, Dreamer does a bit of name dropping and tells him he will be more than happy to put him in touch with the likes of Rob Van Dam, Sandman, Sabu, Mikey Whipwreck or Steve Corino if he is successful, Regal steps in to tell Dreamer to mind his own then tell Danielson that if he does win then surely he has to give one of his own the opportunity, Danielson said he is only interested in the best possible opponent and if that is one of his team mates then so be it, if not then he wont hesitate to go after a true ECW legend.
Nigel McGuinness wins the Scramble match when with 10 seconds left on the clock after Danielson hits The Hurricane with a Bridging Dragon Suplex before turning into "Divorce Court" from McGuinness which sends him outside and he can get an easy 123 on The Hurricane to earn himself the #1 contendership for the ECW World Title at WrestleMania
