| For this topic I was just wondering which of the conclusions of all the Royal Rumble events has stuck with you the most and you consider it to be the "Greatest Ending" of the Rumble? Mine would have to be the Lex Lugar + Bret Hart Co-winners of the 1994 Royal Rumble. I remember watching that Rumble with a big group of friends, some Bret Hart fans while the others were straight Lex Lugar fans. There was so much confusion and arguing going on in just that one living room in America, I could only imagine what was going on in the rest of the country. This was the first of the Rumbles to have a truly "controversial" ending (aside from Flair winning in 1992 when everyone was sure Hogan had it won), but the timing of Hart and Lugar that year was just perfect, and it led to an interesting Wrestlemania X with 2 title shots. | |

| I didnt know lex luger had any straight fans. I'd say maybe vince winning it in 1999, come on who thought he would win? and it had a good story about austin vs mcmahon, undertaker sacrifices.
Having said that stone cold's win in 1997 was an original finish too.

| Shawn Michaels in 1995 was absolutely epic, with the camera being positioned where it was, most fans at home didn't have a clue he wasn't eliminated, then where just shocked when he knocked the Bulldog over the top rope when he was celebrating at the turnbuckle
I also loved Austin's win in 1997, at first I thought it was a botch that he was outside but the writing that entire year was absolutely top class, best year in Wrestling in my opinion and it started at the Rumble

| 2007 was brillaint, between Taker and HBK.
2008 was memorable for Cena's shock return, shame the rest of it from that moment on was a bit shit.
2005 for the Cena and Batista fuck-up, Vince blowing his quads was memorable (for all the wrong reasons)
Mine would be 2001, I think. When kane was in for an hour, eliminated 11 guys to hold the record, then lost at the end when it seemed certain he'd beat Stone Cold. probably my favourite Rumble match too.

| 1999 was a very well scripted Rumble but there were some dodgy entries (Kurrgan anyone?) My first Rumble, 2000, was pretty good with a decent ending 2001 was very entertaining, aside from Drew Carey 2002 was poor apart from Hurricane, Mr Perfect and Kurt Angle 2004 was great until June 25th 2007 2005 was shit, my 2 worst wrestlers from the time were the final 2 2006 was ruined by having the most unrealistic winner imaginiable 2008 was ruined by Supermans win 2009 was fairly poor apart from the winner | |

| 92 for me, Flair turns in the greatest rumble performance ever and for quite possibly the first time on a WWE PPV, Hogan is very audibly booed by the crowd after being a douche to Sid
*********************************************
And Bobby Heenan's commentary is possibly the greatest commentary ever. Not really a vital part of the actual match, but watching it now, he's just fantastic in it.

| I thought the actual Rumble itself in 92 was very poor, up until the final four, the only thing that kept it interesting for me was Bobby Heenan's commentary | |

| Even though I'm not much of a Flair fan, I've got to agree with Oznog. It was basically just a great story being told, with Flair instantly getting attacked by everybody who entered the ring and yet surviving. And like Grecian said, Heenans commentary really added to it.
The other one that I would choose is Benoit's win in 04, mostly just because I was glad to see him win. As a Benoit fan for years, and seeing him come close many times and not actually get the belt in WWE, it was a big moment for me, and you just knew he was gonna get the title (shame the booking fucked up his reign).

| 97 definitly deserves a mention. Austin is on the verge of becoming the biggest thing in the business and is relatively injury free. Plus the controversy of him being thrown out and still winning was great, very memorable. Everyone recognises Heenan's commentary in the 92 rumble as really adding to the match. Are there any other specific matches anyone can think of where the commentary really hooked you into the story the way Bobby does in this match? Struggling to think of anything specific off the top of my head | |

| Jesse Ventura at Mania 5, I actually thought Hogan was heel when first listening to that, that guy was a genius and the best second man EVER in my opinion | |

Ah good one! Totally forgot about Jesse! Same PPV, different match, Warrior V Rude Also Summerslam 89 Warrior V Rude Anytime Ventura commentated on a Hogan match he slaughtered him, hated his guts! I would have loved to have seen a Jesse Ventura V Hulk Hogan Wrestlemania match.

| Hennan gets a lot of recognition and rightly so but for me Ventura was far superior to Hennan but in a very different style, Hennan won the best performance ever for me at the Rumble but for the rest, all the little things Ventura sold it like no other | |

| Also, since you mentioned SummerSlam 89, I think that was he Warrior's best match, watching it over, just check his move set, about 12 power moves, as well as actually selling the story being told, imagine a so called muscle man doing that nowadays, no chance, Rude should have been Worldl Champ though, at some stage at least, the guy was up their with Savage for me, genuis at making people look good | |

| Nothen could beat Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon commentating together, the way those 2 bickered at one another and the opposing views that each of them had really stole all the shows that they voiced. | |

| That for me isn't what should happen though, its great listening to it but their main jobs where to put guys over which I felt sometimes got lost in the whole Gorilla Heenan side show, no one could put guys over better in my opinion than Jesse Ventura | |

| 1992....it had all of the classic vintage wrestlers for me and for the brief time flair was in wwe back then, it was good to see him win. with sid eliminating hogan then.....flair putting sid over....was quite a shocker but was awesome! plus it was ace to see taker in that one! | |

| Look no further than 07. A stunning last 10 mins featuring 2 all time greats doing what they do best. Also a tantalising prelude to the instant classic they had at mania.Taker winning also saw me mark like the little girl that I am. | |
