| Kurt Angle has been telling close friends that he is seriously considering the idea of making a WWE return once his TNA contract is up next fall. The former TNA and WWE Champion has gone as far as to say that he would leave TNA and return to WWE if he had to make the decision right now.
Apparently Angle is unhappy with the creative direction in TNA and does not have much faith in Jeff Jarrett as a leader. Angle has been vocal regarding his frustration with creative both publicly and during private conversations with Dixie Carter. There's a feeling that this is all going to lead up to a power struggle between Angle and Jarrett. |

| The more this is building up, the more I believe it's a work on TNA's part to pump up the Jarret/Angle feud.
It seems both WWE and TNA are trying out the idea of mixing real with kayafbe, Triple H's promos, the whole Jeff Hardy story. It's getting harder and harder to tell the difference.

I remember the buzz when Kevin Nash's contract was up and there was talk about him going to WWE. Okay, maybe it was not so much a buzz as a gentle humming, but I'm pretty sure they tried the waters for getting heat with this kind of thing. What makes it hard to differentiate is that Christian really does seem to go to WWE, therefore setting a precedent. I bet the internet would implode with smarky rage if that turned out to be a work, as well.

It would also probably be on of the greatest thing TNA could do to really create hype, especially if he joined the MEM or the Frontline or even a lone warrior in that storyline. I actually think either way the Chrtistian saga ends, it's sure to be goosd.

| And the fewer people that know about stories and angles being planned, the more shocking / surprising it is when they actually happen. Although when Trips does his kayfabe-breaking promos, he always reminds me of a kid trying to impress the cool kids. | |

It goes one of two ways, though Leak. if people break kayfabe, it either looks like they're trying to give the audience credit for knowing that pro wretsling is completely worked and not a genuine sporting contest, or you look like a twat for 'revealing the truth'. trips just looks like he wants people to cheer him - I wonder what the reaction would be if, say, Brian kendrick did a promo like that.
i'm not too sure there's still an illusion to break...

| I still think there's an illusion, I still try to watch it without thinking, 'oh he's lost because he said something bad to Triple H' I enjoy it more that way.
But I know he does it to get a crowd reaction, but he's talented on the mic, there are much better ways for him to get a reaction.

While I also agree with Gaffer that there isn't really an illusion to ruin anymore, I still hate when the wrestling industry breaks kayfabe. Those type of promos are OK in moderation and when used for comedy (see the DX One Night Only segment from last year with Hornswoggle and the Boogeyman) however the rest of the time, it makes the wrestler in question look like a dick. I sometimes wish I didn't know what really goes on behind the scenes eg HHH being married to Stephanie which is one of the reasons he is at the top of the company. I don't mean I wish I didn't know wrestling was scripted, I just hate it when I see a match for example DX vs Miz and Morrison and know straightaway that DX will win because of the massive egos. I do enjoy though when even the "smarks" get it wrong sometimes. For example, the Internet was sure that HHH, Taker or Batista would win the Rumble this year, no-one expected Cena to appear let alone win the damn thing!

| Breaking kayfabe is good at certain points, not completely breaking it, certainly not the way Triple H is allowed to do it either.
Breaking Kayfabe like when the Kilq all came together at MSG on Hall and Nash's final night was great, obviously the IWC began talking about it and it spread like WildFire, then to combat it, Vince allowed it to be shown about 15 months later and used it to his advantage and to the benefit of DeGeneration X
The breaking of the Kayfabe from DX or just Helmsley now is pathetic, its nothing more than cheap cheers and laughs
Chris Jericho could and should be allowed to break Kayfabe, he is more than capable of doing so without being obvious as well as being able to get his point across
I also agree with Grecian, if THE Brian Kendrick was allowed to do that then it would get him even more over
Again though its important to stress there is no real need to break Kayfabe completely, if you are going to break it then do it subtley, like using the guys real name, mentioning his past (the guy not the character) using a currant situation i.e
Someone to Helmsley - "The only reason you have that damn belt is because of who your screwing"
Someone to Batista - "the only reason your hear is because your so far up Shanes ass"
Someone to Michaels "Stop using God as an excuse to hold this damn company to ransom"
Someone to The Undertaker "Hey Mark, how many times you planning to die before you comeback and squash someone else at WrestleMania
Things like that, not Helmsley commenting on 'the wife'

To be honest, I would be annoyed if anyone made a remark like that. I feel that is mocking a popular and great character in the Undertaker by mentioning his many "deaths" and it is mocking the Wrestlemania streak. That's just my opinion though and I'm sure most people will disagree with me. This is just a quick question but do you think WWE would allow two people who despise each other in kayfabe come out and congratulate each other if they won a world championship or console them if they had retired or whatever. For example, if Chris Jericho was still a heel and Shawn Michaels had just retired and after all the kayfabe history between the two, do you think they would allow Jericho to break kayfabe and allow him to come out and console HBK or not?

| They would come out, whether its shown on tv or not would be another matter, like the Flair send off, Vince and The Undertaker didn't come out on tv, that was kept for the Flair DVD and its never been referred to on tv either
As for your thoughts on disrespecting The Undertaker, that would be the whole point of it, although its as much as a cheap shot at the writers and bookers than him
