| I am a little bored so I decided to start a thread. I was thinking about recent angles that have just gone bad but started with so much potential. You know those angles where you say, "Wow I didn't see that coming, I wonder what is going to happen!", and then when its revealed what it was about or the matches that follow the angle are just God awful and you wish the angle never happened.
The most recent of these incidences in my opinion is Kane vs. Rey Mysterio. Kane vs. Rey actually started with Kane and the is he dead or alive thing, and it had many people interested. We all thought it would be something huge and it would have us drawn in for weeks and months to come. When it was revealed that it was Rey, and the encounters ensued afterwards we quickly lost interests, and it went from being a main storyline on RAW to an opening match or a tag match as a filler.
Another failed angle that had so much promise was the martial law on RAW after Vince was injured. RAW was back on the rise without a GM and they could've milked it to the last drop, and then brought in a GM that people would be able to give a reaction to and could stir things up. I was hoping it would be JBL because he is perfect for that role, or I thought they would bring Regal back. Instead they have a RAW where the GM is making these ghost decisions and everyone is wondering who it is....come to find out its Adamle. He had some promise going into his first week, but once he picked up the mic and played the neutral GM with his Adamle Originals the whole angle went sour. He only last about 4 months, RAW's ratings went down, and the rest is history.
There are many others both past and present without going into detail that I feel had so much potential that flopped IMO. The Corporate Ministry, Undertaker vs. DDP, Cena vs. Batista just to name a few.
What do you guys think are some angles that had GREAT potential but just flopped or didn't live up to the hype?

| Good article The WCW Vs WWF angle. That was pure wet dream material and even though it was an OK angle (quite enjoyed it tbh) it had so much potential that it hurts thinking about how good it could have been lol. Don't know exactly why they didn't use Goldberg, Hogan, Sting or any of the other people (heard loads of stories from being big heads to some contract stuff, none are solid reasons really) but if they had then this would have been amazing. In the end it was Austin (practically Mr.Attitude era), Kurt Angle (made into a star by WWF) and Shane McMahon (son of WWF owner!!!). RVD and Booker T were pretty good examples of WCW and ECW but RVD was already a WWF performer so he hardly jumped to invade. Plus he messed it up a bit because people liked him lol. The lack of the ECW and WCW stars made it a pretty lame arse angle really and it more or less just pissed on WCW's corpse rather than give them a good, respectful send off which it deserved. | |

| Good article Definatly the Rey Mysterio/Kane storyline. I thought, after a pretty good ECW title run that Kane would finally be pushed credibly in the first time in 5 years or so. It started off that way, and I am 98% sure the original plan was for the mask to be in the bag, but they obviously saw that too many people were predicting it and so went for Mysterio. And I thought, while a bit weird, this could actually be better. It would allow both Kane and Mysterio to go through a much needed character change. We saw how good Kane could be on the mic, but then, maybe due to Cena's injury. Mysterio came back, his normal fan-loving, jumping around- self. Another is Edge and Triple H. It was rushed horribly, when it could have been a top class feud for a few months with the title changing around. Instead it was in one lacklusture match in which Haitch won. Terrible booking. | |

| I'd go for the Kane / May 19 storyline. Started off well, built up to be quite promising, then we get some crap 'Fake kane (who's now Festus, apparently), a shite PPV match, a terrible rematch on Raw which ends with kane dragging the Fake Kane backstage, and that was it. Booked only to promote See No Evil, but could have been so much better. Instead, it just sucked. | |

| Yep I gotta agree with you guys...the Kane/Rey feud had me excited all up until the when the bag was revealed and it was Reys mask...I also thought that the CM punk/Orton feud could go somewhere...but they havnt really gone anywhere with Punk getting revenge for Orton punting him in the head | |

| Most recent one would be the whats in kanes bag storyline, turned out to be horrificly crap after an intresting start.
The anarchy on RAW aswell was pretty awsome, but as soon as adamele came into the equation it just ruined everything, worst GM in a long time

And what did WWE do with him or more to point what did HHH do to him over WHC .shat on him ( not liitreally taht d be disgusting). Any many ways (not so much wrestling) AJ Styles reminds me of a young ECW RVD so i hope AJ never goes to wwe after all he turned dwon OVW .good lad.

| the maybe still in progress jeff hardy going heel angle, it was a great build up with hardy beign more frustrated as ever as he was soo close to the brass ring, he went insane, maybe he should have flipped so much that he just attacked every face of SD and RAW, so finally his brother matt should stop him, leading up to a great fued ending with jeff winning the ECW title, then with matt returning at the royal rumble or WM to beat him for the title ina great TLC or Ladder match | |

| The Vince limo explosion storyline, could have been one of the biggest storylines in years but due to "unfortunate circumstances" never continued and we will probably never know what would have happened. (Paul London my arse lol) Hopefully, they don't try doing it again at next year's WWE Draft as that would be stupid.
Also, the Vince illegitimate son storyline would have been interesting as well. It most likely would have carried on from the limo explosion storyline and I was sure HHH would have been the son. I doubt they would put a injury prone and fairly new superstar such as Kennedy as the focal point of such a big storyline.

| I don't think Triple H would ever have been the son, it was a push he didn't need and one he would not have wanted, that kind of stuff sticks with a character, more so in this day and age, you could get away with it in a territory in the 80s but in this day and age that would have stuck, so it would have had to go to someone who needed it badly!
Kennedy would have been the illegitimate son, I think thats a pretty much nailed on certainty.
The Kane's bag story was a major let down for me!

| I'd even go as far as putting most of Kane's storylines in here, ever. Kane is one of my favorite characters/ wrestlers, but his storylines always have the tendency to fizzle out or hend horribly after an initially awesome kick-off.
Also frequent DX-reunions. You couldn't even call these storylines, it's Triple H and HBK getting together to unite their Incredible Merchandise Selling Powers. Back in the day DX was at the center of some pretty good storylines and feuds, now it's just basically Super Hunter and Super Michaels in action. A feud with Mizorisson could possibly change my view about this, but I wont hold my breath for this to happen, as it could just as well fizzle out like any bad Kane story arch.

I don't think it was the fact that they dragged it out too long, it's just that the clues given in the videos were obviously pointing to a Jericho return. I mean "Break The Walls", come on! It's not exactly going to be Goldberg now is it? And although it was obvious it was Jericho, I must admit I still marked out when the countdown appeared on the TitanTron.

i think it just failed with orton as all they could do was have him make face remarks, but now its kind of like it was meant to be.
he's even saying save us, or me, or them a few times a show now, which he stopped for a while after it just made no sense.

i cant remember now but i dont think it would have dragged on and had him do his little arm out thing on camera even before his music hit, if it was dnoe how it was origionaly planned
as he may well have been heel from the start

| Do you know when Jericho was meant to return. I heard that he was meant to either screw Cena out of the title or challenge him after Cena's match at No Mercy. I also heard a good idea that he was meant to return at Cyber Sunday when Cena was still meant to be champ. The save us 222 thing would appear during the part where they announce who won the vote and Jericho would appear. | |

That magazine cover shows a 'How to spice up your sex life' thing in the top right corner, with Divas sex tips!
Anyone else really curious to know what they'd recommend the readers of WWE magazine to do (average age of reader, about 12-14, I'd guess...)

I am not so sure, Yes I remember that 'spoiler' magazine, however that was only highlighted days before his return to RAW, which by that time almost everyone knew was the date he was scheduled to appear for his comeback!
Jericho's return was spoiled because it went on far to long, the clues where alright, I remember all the buzz when a new Save_Us video aired, everyone was on YouTube trying to work it out although almost everyone was certain it was Y2J although some thought it could have been the Big Show!
The Chris Jericho comeback was ruined because it went on for 3 weeks to long, not the magazine cover, yes that was bad management as well but it only served to confirm what was already a formality
