| Brock won by submission in the 2nd round.
Carwin pounded him for most of the first round, managed to get Brock down by the fence and just hammered him. Brock bled quite a lot, but survived the round, despite looking a bit of a mess.
2nd round, Brock managed to score a takedown, and put on a beautiful triangle-choke type thing. Carwin held out for a bit longer than most people, before tapping out.
a very impressive display from Brock, Carwin punched himself out in the first round and was knackered to do much after that.

| Brock was unbelievable, I thought Carwin was gonna kill him in that first round, how he managed to stay with it speaks volumes of the guy, I said on a UFC thread on 606 yestereday that I fancied Brock for the match, I just felt that Carwin would try and knock him out, Brock is the guy everyone pays to see, be it to cheer him or see him get his ass kicked, and I felt Carwin would try and give the crowd a knockout and I thought he might get caught.
I'm not much of an MMA fan but I've been looking forward to that match all week and the rest of the card was really enjoyable too

| Jesus Lesnar can take some punishment. I don't think any other fighter going could have taken the hits he did in that 1st round and survive.
The eventual rematch will be so huge now.

| I'm not so sure they will have a re-match not immediately anyway, I think Carwin might have to win another couple of fights again, Carwin was mightly impressive beforehand but a lot of his stigma is lost now, before last night his average match length was something like a minute 8 seconds, he went about 7 minutes last night, Brock will only get stronger in my opinion, that was his first match in a year and all the troubles he has had to come through, I don't think he will ever be that vulnerable again
Still, I never thought I'd see someone look so dominant over Lesnar, so I would like to see a re-match
On another note, it looks like Lesnar has killed the heel in him which is a shame, I know he is ultra thankful right now thanks to what he has came through, but having a bad guy as the Champ makes it so much better, if he is this all new likable guy no one is gonna pay to see him get his ass kicked

| Like I said on the poll thread, Carwin will dominate the punching game whilst Lesnar will dominate the ground game and i'm hoping this new "humble champion" Brock Lesnar we have since he had his opperation is for real and that he may get more fans as a result (although the amature wrestling guys will always hate him for wrestling in WWE).
BTW Cain Valequez is the number #1 contender and I would imagine Brock Lesnar will have to defend his title against him at some point.

The promo he cut at the end of the second Mir fight was awesome, definitely something he learned in WWE. Be a real shame if he has cut that out completely, it's makes his fights more marketable, and let's face it, he is the biggest name in MMA.

| Definitely agree, I think his promos and his actions leading up to this fight was completely genuine, he is just happy to be alive and still be able to not only compete but beat the best they could throw at him, I'm hoping when it all dies down that he will routinely fall back into his bad guy persona although he might not buy into it, as you say though, the bad guy is far more marketable, people either pay to see him or pay to see him get his cunt kicked in, I'm sure Dana White will be well aware of that | |

| Atcually i'm glad has drop the heel persona in UFC as that turned alot of fans against him and besides he did go over board (fuck Bud Light i'm drinking Cors is not the best thing to keep Bud Light sponsoring UFC).
That being said UFC is full of people like Lesnar acting cocky, trying to be a bad boy (Jamie Yager and Chael Sonne springs to mind here) so I doubt UFC will miss the heel Brock much and he's gained alot more fans now, so I say good on Brock.

| To be fair though, his heel persona was meant to turn a lot of fans against him, that's what playing the bad guy does, I bet loads of people would have ordered UFC on Saturday in the States to see him get his head knocked off, they might not necessarily buy the event if they like him.
Also, I bet Bud light might not have liked the content Lesnar said but I bet they never had as much main stream publicity after he said it, it could have been marketing genius

| You make a good point on both things you said although in WWE your playing a caharcter so it's the character that gets boo'd and cheered whilst in UFC it's the atcual person and whilst I can see where your coming from (I cheered when Court Mcgee beat Jamie Yager in Ultimate Fighter because Yager is a cocky git), like Big Brother contestants I reckon UFC fighters would prefer to get cheered rather than boo'd and whatever happens people will be watching him due to him being a big name and a former WWE wrestler. | |
