Dean Ashton set to retire

its amazing how one tiny decision can change somthing so massive.


example one: sell him in january 05 when he is champ top scorer for 3.5 million instead of waiting untill the close season and going about a deal properly, when crewe are in a safe place and we have time to get a replacement.
now in lg 2 after an epic drop since the day Dean left. (if you dont think its that dramatic just look at the 05 season ffs lol. i dont need to say again how we did not win untill the last 2 games after he left after being 8th! and only survived due to goal differance thanks to eugen bopp at already relegated forest with a 25 yard volley with his first touch as sub)


example two: SWP takles deano way too vigorously during training for his first england call up, he has never fully recovered

team that with the fact that his one international game "never existed" just to rub salt in the wounds.


bad times for deano, hope he handles it well, hear he is sueing the FA? lol 25 and his career is over and has been for a while now

remember posting this at the beginning of the season he must have thought he could comeback to take that long to finally decide shame really talent youngster

It's a shame to hear this news. I've liked Ashton since his Crewe days. My Crewe fan mate used to rave about him when we were in high school. Tis a shame!

Could be a good idea. I'd welcome him at North End for half a season before retirement even if he wasn't fully fit, just to bang in a couple of important goals lol!

im sure dario will be offering him allsorts to help out with any future career decisions.

he nearly quit before, which ive said on here, but steve holland made him give it another go (after the SWP england ankle break and failure to play for a season)

Here's hoping. Would be a shame if he had to retire at a young age for a footballer
