CM Punk cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase and pinning Edge to become World Heavyweight Champion could become the catalyst for the next GREAT wrestling era.
The Punk Era.

Not since the Attitude era have fans genuinely been excited as this time. RAW has picked up no end in recent weeks, the Anarchy theme has been working well, the draft brought some real surprises including the shock move of Trips to SD but CM Punk's title reign has to be the biggest move in the last few years by WWE.

For me the reason behind this is simple.
WWE have had a habit of pushing their own. Guys that they made, not WCW, not ECW, but their own.
Wrestlers such as Goldberg, RVD, Booker T and many more got treated roughly while in WWE, never being allowed the same adulation, the same respect, the same pushes that guys like HHH, Taker and such got, because WWE made their careers.
But this all changed when CM Punk lifted that belt aloft.
He was Ring of Honor.
He was adored by the fans there as both a face and a heel, independent fans rave on about his Pepsi Plunge over the GTS.
For me it was a statement.
WWE have shown every single guy in TNA, every guy in ROH, NOAH, CZW that if you're good enough, if you'll put in the effort, that you can make it in the biggest company on the planet.
AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Briscoe Brothers, Jack Evans and many more will be watching WWE now with abated breath to see how CM's reign unfolds, before always thinking that they would never get an opportunity in WWE but now thinking that could be them.
ECW with it's new policy to bring the new guys through has seen the likes of another great indie wrestler Matt Sydal wowing the fans with his high risk, crowd pleasing moves.
Bryan Danielson currently getting big wins in dark matches against guys who are down for pushes.

This is an exciting time in wrestling.
This is the Punk Era.

The Summer of Punk in Ring Of Honour was in many peoples views some of the best moments in wrestling in the last 10 years, quite a feat considering the period that time covers!

You always make a big play for Jack Evans Maccs, it has to be commended that you spot a talent and stick by him but at 5 foot 8 he will never make it to the top of WWE, he might make a good lightweight champ or possible IC champ or even a good partner in a tag team but never to the top!

I think it could be beyond him height wise but he's only 2 inches shorter than Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho so its not a million miles away.
It always depends on who they feud with whilst being champ, stick them up against the likes of Taker or Batista and then yes it would look ridiculous but put him against another guy who ain't a giant and it's a possibility.

Yes but even those guys looked there height, particularly Jericho now, however Angle did use to wear higher soled boots, not sure if he still does but don't think Evans could get away with that with the way he needs his feet for all his balance

Dont get me wrong, I would like to see him in the WWE, he could be a great wing man for THEE man, like X-Pac was for Triple H

To me he'd be the natural succesor to Jeff. Never quite the top league but just so over with the fans. Would have to be a babyface with the moves too.
Perhaps a title run would be a bad thing, Rey has never really recovered from the disaster that was his title reign.

Rey won the impossible though, the entire angle that got Mysterio the belt was a disgrace from start to finish, they basically let him be the main star from January to April then when they gave him the title they dropped him from the tallest of heights!

He should never have been champion, he simply isn't believable or marketable as a champ

I hope I am wrong but Evans will die in the ring in my opinion! I cant see the WWE touching him with his brilliant but dangerous move set and if they ever did he would be wated down to a Jeff standard

But the Jeff standard is loved by WWE fans thinking its the best high flying stuff in the business.
So a guy that could do Jeff's moves with his eyes closed and hopefully isn't partial to a bit of Charley Chalk could be a merchandise dream for Vince.

There are guys like that around all over the place though Maccs, if this was what Vince wanted its what we would be seeing!

There will be guys who make Evans look like Jeff as well so I fail to see why Vince would be so interested in it now if he hasn't shown that kind of train of thought now!

Jeff has been watered down as well remember!

Also Evans is extremely sloppy, understandable when you move in the air as much as he does but I just see it as another reason Vince will say thanks but no thanks!
