Update on Cody Rhodes

While Cody Rhodes mentioned on Twitter that he was taking time off, it is nothing significant. Rhodes is booked on SmackDown tonight and was doing local media all morning promoting tonight's show in Wilkes-Barre. The "time off" he was given was for Raw last night, so that he could be in Wilkes-Barre to do early morning radio appearances in studio.

News came out this weekend that over the past few months, WWE officials were discussing Cody for a potential feud against WWE Champion CM Punk.

This comes after we learned that officials almost put the WWE Title on Daniel Bryan at Over the Limit but that idea was nixed.

While one could assume that officials aren't too sure of CM Punk as WWE Champion, sources indicate that WWE still has major plans for him through the rest of the year.

I really think Cody is in for a big 2012.

There was talk before Christian got the IC title that Cody was going to unify the IC/US titles.

I'm kind of glad Cody dropped the IC title. He was beginning to stagnate IMO.

He could have done with one more big fued over the title I feel, although a small running fued with Christian over it should be good.

I look forward to a WHC fued between Rhodes and Orton though.
