Cody Rhodes

With the way Cody Rhodes has performed this year he has been one of my MVP's of the year so far. Reading on here that WWE are trying to push him as a legitimate champion and elevate the IC belt I thought of a feud that could be done in the lead up to WrestleMania.

The feud would be between Kane and Rhodes, after Kane has finished feuding with Henry. Kane wins a battle royal to become number 1 contender for the IC belt, Rhodes comes out next SD and addresses the fact he will face Kane but says Kane should put something on the line too, and say he is ugly and needs to hide his face. This leads to Rhodes vs Kane, if Kane wins he wins the belt, if Rhodes wins Kane must put his mask back on. Kane loses and disappears for 2 weeks only to emerge at the Royal Rumble in his mask, he comes in when there are 8 or so men in the ring including Cody and he destroys all 8 before eliminating Cody and then himself. He says on SmackDown that he is badder than every and didn't want the WWE title shot at Mania he wanted an IC title shot at Mania. In the 2 month lead up Kane chases Rhodes around and psychs him out during Rhodes matches until Rhodes jumps Kane on his way to the ring and trys to injure him so he doesn't make it to WrestleMania. Kane heals and Teddy Long declares it will be an all out war in a last man standing match for the belt.

I think this sort of booking would work brilliantly for Kane and Rhodes and have Rhodes work with a veteran to elevate the belt, the fact Kane leaves the rumble for a IC title shot in itself shows how much the title would mean. Anyway if this happened what would your thoughts be?

I like it - my only concern is that if Kane eliminates himself on purpose, it then cheapens the eventual winner of the Rumble. I'd slightly tweak it by having him eliminate Cody, follow him out of the ring under the bottom rope, and then when he re-enters have someone clothesline him straight out. Kane's got such a reputation in the Rumble that his elimination is quite a big deal.

Totally agree that Cody has been sensational this year.

it actually looks like he could be being paired with Orton atm, Orton is out of the title picture. But if Orton isn't in a world title match at Mania then surely having Cody Vs Orton would have been huge for a IC match at Mania..?

Why would someone give up a potential world title shot for an intercontinental shot?

probably doesn't but the potential for a fued of the year with Cody? that is something that would probably motivate him in the fued, i would hope he would put Cody over as well

But in regards to the thread... Sounds like a great idea to elavate the IC title, not sure if anything like that would ever happen due to damaging the WWE Title, but maybe if Kane gave up the shot because he wanted to beat the living shit out of Cody even more then main eventing at wrestlemania, playing with a story like the mask brings out the beast inside of him and now Cody has brought that back he will suffer the consequences etc

which is why I would use Orton, there is already history in place that would mean Randy would want to go after Rhodes, and they could have a top WM fued rather than a winter filler fued
