Date Set for David Haye Vs. Wladimir Klitschko

David Haye's world heavyweight title fight with Wladimir Klitschko will take place on 2 July in Hamburg, according to Klitschko's manager Bernd Boente.

After protracted negotiations, WBA champion Haye and IBF and WBO holder Klitschko agreed to fight last month with the venue and date undecided.

But Boente confirmed the 57,000-capacity Imtech Arena in Germany would stage the unification contest.

"The fight will be 2 July in Hamburg. It is confirmed 100%," said Boente.

"We had different options and held negotiations in other countries. Switzerland was in play, Ukraine and different options in Germany.

"But it was always the case that Adam Booth [Haye's manager] and myself discussed all these things, such as the different business options on the table, as partners, and then made the decision together yesterday [Tuesday] that we'd go to Hamburg."

Haye was due to fight Wladimir, 35, in 2009 but was forced to pull out because of a back injury and negotiations had repeatedly stalled since. But the duo finally struck an agreement on 5 March.

Klitschko has been undergoing rehabilitation from an abdominal injury suffered in December - an injury which scuppered a planned fight with Haye's fellow Brit Dereck Chisora - but Boente insisted the slightly later date was unconnected.

"The date had nothing to do with Wladimir's stomach injury," he said. "The arena could not do the week before.

"We had only two dates from [broadcasters] Sky and RTL, the key players here, and it was either 25 June or 2 July.

"So it was always dependent on the stadium. In Hamburg, only 2 July was possible because of various concerts."

Haye, 30, who has been training for the fight in Miami, hopes to follow up the fight against Wladimir with a bout against his older brother, WBC title-holder Vitali Klitschko.

However, the Londoner said he would not delay his planned retirement - on his 31st birthday in October - to realise his dream of fighting both brothers.

Hmmmmm, I'm not to bothered about this fight at the moment. Maybe closer to the time I may be, but I won't be buying it.

I don't know much about Klischko (either of them).

Whats peoples thoughts on this? I think Haye will winn within 6 rounds (my money is going on 4th round knockout.

Everycunt ive spoken to have said the klit will knock haye out in the 7th.

ever since the fight was announced, ive been convinced that klit is gonna knock the shit out of haye, but as we have gotten closer to the fight, i think haye is gonna knock him out, as he is going to have to attack from the start as he cant do hat he did against valuev and hope to win it on the judges scores and klit has got a dodgy chin, plus if he does win, vitali is gonna absolutely destroy him in the next fight

either way, one of them is gonna get knocked out, and i cant see it going past 7 rounds

couldn't get anywhere near him and when he did klit just grabs on and waits untill he's ready. Klit bossed it, but he's still a boring fuck and he still couldn't knock haye down. Even ruiz knocked haye down ffs lol. 12 rounds no knockdowns, klit won most rounds 10-9 with jab jab jab

No knockdowns but plenty of diving on the canvas, anyone would of thought Haye had been training for a football match. It was embarrassing
