- Sunderland striker Darren Bent has been named in the England squad to face Brazil in a friendly on 14 November.
Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock and Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone have also been called up by England manager Fabio Capello.
The match in Qatar is the penultimate game before Capello names his provisional World Cup squad.
Bent, who has eight Premier League goals, will be looking to shine in the absence of the injured Emile Heskey.
Sunderland forward Bent, 25, has made one appearance under Capello, while Warnock, 27, made an eight-minute substitute appearance in Trinidad last year and Huddlestone, 22, is still to make his senior debut. The England manager has once again overlooked Manchester United's Michael Owen and there is no place for defender Ashley Cole, who is returning from injury.
Heading the long list of injuries for England are Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard, along with Aaron Lennon and Carlton Cole.
David Beckham's participation will depend on the whether Los Angeles Galaxy win their MLS Conference semi-final against Chivas USA.
The last time England played Brazil was in a 1-1 draw at the opening of the new Wembley Stadium in June 2007.
The match takes place in the 50,000-seater Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.

| Will be interesting to see if he starts with his strongest line up. GK- Green RB- Johnson LB- W Bridge CB- Terry CB- Upson CM- Barry CM- Carrick RM- Milner LM- Young AM- Lampard CF- Rooney
Or whether he opts to experiment by playing players like Bent, Jenas, Huddlestone, Cahill and Warnock.
Also, anyone think that players like Cattermole and J Cole still have a chance of possibly breaking into the squad? Especially with Cattermole playing well recently. | |

| I'd like to think Catts would get in but England are really really strong in the midfield. They have Barry, Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick, Jenas, Beckham who can all play in the centre. Be well tough to break through that lot. | |
