Why the "Trump buys Raw angle" was ended early...

As of early this weekend, the script for last night's WWE Monday Night Raw was not finished and the belief is that the decision to kill the angle of Donald Trump as the new owner of Raw was likely a last-minute situation reports The Figure Four Weekly Newsletter.

The original Trump storyline was scheduled to go much longer than one week, although the general feedback among mostly everyone in WWE was said to be negative about it in the first place. The announcement of Trump "buying" the show last week also didn't help matters as it didn't get the reaction Vince McMahon was said to be expecting.

The obvious goal with the storyline was an attempt to get some press, although very few media outlets picked up on the story last week and those that did ended up looking bad when they reported it as fact. This forced WWE and USA to issue an apology press release later in the week. Another problem was that after the mess that was created last week among the media, the company again hoped they would get picked up when it was announced that Trump was providing a full ticket refund to everyone attending the show last night in Green Bay. Of course almost no one picked up the story except for local media. The line right now is that WWE ended up buying themselves $230,000 worth of publicity and it probably wasn't worth it in the end.

It was a stupid idea, Trump wasn't the name anyone was expecting or wanting. It also confused the media, if it had been JBL or Biscoff or whatever it might not got as much press but it wouldn't have ended up as much as a disaster.

I wasn't confident the story would last long at all as soon as I found out the share price dropped and at the end of play yesterday it was the lowest it had been this month, still, didn't expect it to end right their and then, got to say though, if Trump could have got double his money before RAW then why did he settle for double his money DURING Raw (in kayfabe of course)

I must say, it was a relief though when the story ended because for a moment I was just imagining something like that Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins show with a celebrity host every week

I wasn't looking forward to the celebrity host thing either. At least it looks like we got a heel turn from Vince, and even if he is boring. Heel Vince is much better than face Vince.

I was really hoping that when Trump was about to shake vince's hand that he would pull back and say that he had already sold Raw to someone else and either Paul Heyman or Eric Bischoff would walk out.

In all probablity, everyone but me watches the shows before commenting on them. They'll get over it.

i've just watched Raw this didnt ruin anything far bigger things happened this storyline was crap glad its gone although i just read online that WWE Hints That Donald Trump Might Be Back Again basically to continue his feud with vince

Wrestlemania 23, with Trump vs MacMahon, gets the highest buyrate ever for a WWE pay-per-view.

Raw, presented commercial-free and 'owned' by Trump gets the highest TV rating for WWE since 2002.

Something tells me The Donald will be back on WWE TV at some point.

Raw got a really high rating on Monday a 4.5 compared to 3.6 which they got for the last 2 hour Raw.

Raw has been averaging about 3.5 for the last three months, since after Mania, its a massive spike, wont last though, nor should it either, RAW doesn't do enough to merit those kind of ratings

now had they given an amazing show, odds are the rating might have stayed up for more than a week. I predict the next show does a 3.3 or 3.4
