For the record, Darren is now the first openly gay wrestler ever at WWE ... and the first headlining wrestler ever to come out while still signed to a major promotion.

Other pro wrestlers have been rumored to be gay, but that's it ... just rumors.

Bottom line: this is big, big news. For all its chauvinism and testosterone-driven bravado, coming out in WWE is tantamount to coming out in the NFL.

Of course, wrestling is a little different, particularly because of how physical it is, and how little clothing is involved -- but Darren is completely unfazed.

Cena's cut some homophobic stuff before too, one regarding Miz and Alex Riley in the build-up to Mania 27 comes to mind.

Thinking about it, Young's made a cracking move.  As part of a low-card tag team, he's always in danger of being future-endeavoured. If WWE fire him now, it makes them a homophobic employer, and open to all manner of lawsuits.

All of his 'go to' insults are based on homosexuality, so he thinks being gay is the worst thing you can be, even if it's subconscious. Or he is pandering to society, which acts the same as a whole, which would be worse, as he'd have realised he is doing it, but does it just to seem popular and funny, influencing millions of kids to do the same. It's a vicious circle. Which is why I think WWE will try to push Young as a role model. Vs Jack Swagger would do the trick.
