| I didnt really understand why drop Wallcot, granted hes not the most technically gifted of players but bring him on with half an hour to go instead of starting him he is very dangerous. Arsene Wenger has realised this and does it a lot by just sticking him on towards the end so why doesnt Cappello do it. They should have took Joe Cole and Wallcott and dropped Shite Phillips who is a waste of space imo.
Also where is the logic in playing Baines for 2 out of the last 3 warm up games then drop him for someone who to the best of my knowledge doesnt have a cap in Warnock? Baines may get home sick but going forward and defending hes a far better player and i would probably say he was the 2nd best LB in England behind Cole when played properly in how Everton play when he makes overlaps from the winger and crossing in balls which he was unable to do in the matches he played in because he was playing on the left with the right footed centre mid Gerrard who kept cutting inside leaving him out alone and uncovered.
Heskey over Bent though makes no sense either, Bent has scored 24 goals, Heskey i think has scored 4 and lost his place in a better team with better service. Im not a fan of Bent by any stretch of the imagination but even I recognise hes a better player and more of an attacking threat than Heskey whos not even past it as he never had it.
If you were going on merit and form then Parker would have got in above Gerrard and Barry but unfortunately hes not part of a top 4/5 club so he wont get in. Why take Barry whos not even that good imo and will most likely be unfit over Parker who kept West Ham up, has been one of the most consistent performers all year and for quite some time now and who is fit and is a really good touch tackling midfielder, someone who England need? Strangeeeee

| Although I hate it with a huge passion, dropping Bent isn't a huge shock or too silly. Fact is, he's done amazing for us but because he hasn't had a chance to gel with England there's no reason for Capello (Mr.Overrated) to take him really. He needs a team and despite Bent's incredible greatness ( ) he really doesn't fit in with the team. Although the team are a bit shite, expected Capello to shake things up a bit more than he has. | |

Baines gets home sick as you said so if anything happens to Ashley Cole in South Africa, Baines would have to come in. THe only way he would cure his home sickness is to play him. Going into the World Cup, you can't take the chance on hoping he'll get over his home sickness. As for Bent not going, I always thought it would be between Defoe and Bent go get the chop - with Bent being the one not to get on the plane. In all honesty I don't think he will be an England regular. I think he is a club player, a bit similar to another Sunderland legend, Kevin Phillips. Super Kev couldn't stop scoring in the Red and White but just couldn't do it at international level.
