| Breaking news: The seven England players to miss out on a World Cup place are: Leighton Baines, Michael Dawson, Tom Huddlestone, Scott Parker, Adam Johnson, Theo Walcott, Darren Bent.
Dissapointed to see Parker and Johnson go.
Don't understand how Upson, Heskey, Carrick and Shawn Wright Phillips are in the squad.
Johnson took SWP's place at club level, is in form but doesn't get a place?
Bent gets 24 goals for a mediocre club, but Heskey who lost his place at club level gets a place?
Scott Parker in for for club level doesn't get a place, but Carrick, who is not in good form, and was terrible in the friendly gets a place.
I think Cappello has given in to media pressure.

| ENGLAND'S 2010 WORLD CUP SQUAD: Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green. Defenders: Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips. Forwards: Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney
******************************
I'm genuinely surprised Walcott misses out.
Huddlestone and Parker aren't that much of a shock, but Warnock in ahead of Baines? And why SWP but not Adam Johnson...!

| What a load of wank.
Walcott is far from perfect but SWP ahead of him! He's been a wanky fringe player for the season.
Leaving Bent behind is pathetic too, can't wait to laugh when Heskey makes his 10th fuck up of the tourny.

| Squad clearly hasn't been picked on form. Heskey was always going to get picked, was just a case of whether he took 4 or 5 strikers.
Dawson, Johnson and Parker should be in instead of Upson, SWP and Carrick.

| Dawson should be in there ahead of Carragher, along with a specialised right-back in the squad. King and Rio both being could be a mistake, both are injury-prone.
SWP shouldn't be near it, Johnson definitely deserves a place.
If anything, I'd have gone with all 5 strikers, and left one of the 5 CBs in the squad behind.

| although i don't rate Walcott he is far better than that Donkey Wright-Phillips who has done absolutely nothing to warrant a place in the team, personally would of picked Adam Johnson ahead of both of them, he's been a sensation at City.
Carrick? Heskey? Upson over Dawson? No Bent?
Capello is full of shit, when he said he'd pick players on form, well he clearly hasn't done that.
and Why do England managers persist with Heskey? he can't shoot for shit, and his apparent job is to"hold up the ball"?? what a load of shit, he can't even do that without falling on his fat ass

| I'm quite disappointed with his fianl 23.
I would of had Dawson instead of Upson. I would of took Johnson instead of Wright-Phillips, Parker instead of Carrick and I would of took Bent instead of Defoe (yes, I would take Heskey).
The reason for this - Out of the 5 strikers in the 30-man squad, Crouch and Heskey are more of the hold up players. Rooney, Defoe and Bent are the goalscorers so to speak. So I always thought is was going to be either Defoe or Bent to get the chop. Bent and Rooney are Englands top scorers in the Premier League last season. 50 goals between the two.
I know Heskey hasn't had the best of seasons but he does bring the best out of others. Rooney plays well with him and Michael Owen had his best spell with England alongside the big man.
Rooney can't play up front with Defoe or Bent, in my opinion but I think if anything happens to Rooney then Darren Bent is the next best natural goalscorer.
Walcott or Lennon, either one of then are ok with me as both have pace and both need to improve on their final ball.

| swp has been good with crouch for england. Walcot is a bag of wank. We also have lennon so shh. Milner lennon swp and cole are our best set. Plus its based on how they train together you know, best TEAM? i'm glad we have cara cos johnson will fail lol. Bent meh he flops but i'd have him over the shit lump every day. Bent could have gone and replaced rooney for 3rd game with crouch. If rooney loses it or is shit or injured i'd play bent. | |

| What the fuck has Walcott done to merit a place? he is by far the most overrated player in the land, he already got to one World Cup for nothing, I'm glad he isn't going to get to another one underserved | |

| build some confidence or go out on loan and play a few games ffs. He cant improve to a decent standard if he aint playing. No end product cos he hasn't needed it, not been in the situations enough times. Go to sunderland and knock it across for bent for a year or 2 | |

| I was shocked and dissapointed that Dawson, Johnson and Parker were omitted. They had been really good all season, it is a shame others got in front of them - possibly undeservingly | |

| I wasn't shocked Parker didn't go but thought he should have went, although he isn't exactly like him, he is far more similar to Gareth Barry than Michael Carrick is, Carrick is more of a deep lying play maker than a all action defensive midfielder like Parker is, he would for me been far more suitable as a replacement
I'd have taken Dawson ahead of Upson as well and Johnson ahead of SWP

Yeah thats exactly the kind of character Fabio Capello is! After years of success doing it his own way in Media hotbeds like Madrid an Rome and Milan he has finally gave up all he stand for because someone like Adrian Durham doesn't roast him

| I don't understand then, why he would take Carrick, who has been extremly poor, and same with Upson and Wright Phillips, when he has much better choices.
He said he'd base his choices on form, and he obviously hasn't.

Ashley Young not getting included in 30 man squad suprised me. I think if Joe Cole hadnt made it then Ashley Young would of been in. With the strikers around, I dont think Agbonlahor is quite there yet for England. Pleanty of time for him i think in my opinion.

He said he'd base his choices on form, and he obviously hasn't. I'd have taken Scotty Parker ahead of Michael Carrick, I think he is a more natural replacement to Gareth Barry if its needed, however Carrick is a regular for Manchester United, one of the top 8 club sides in the World probably, for me he hasn't had the best 18 months but he is still playing regularly for Alex Ferguson so for me that would suggest that he is more than capable of doing a job for England and has done in the past. You do choose players on form but you don't just turn your back on players who are tried and tested at this level this late in the day. Well I think he took Upson because Upson played for him in qualifiers, some managers will go with the feeling of 'better the devil you know' If he was picking a squad on form alone Steven Gerrard would have struggled to make the plane My thoughts where Capello would have had 21 players locked before he announced the 30 man squad and I think it was either SWP or Walcott or Johnson and between Dawson or Upson for the final defensive place, I don't think Parker or Huddleston had a shot at going
