World Cup Support

I believe there are a few Scottish and Irish people in this site so i thought i'd ask the question..

Will you be routing for England in the World Cup?

In the 2008 Euro's when England didn't Qualify, I was really gutted. By the time the tournement came, I was looking forward to it. I just enjoyed the tournement as a neutral. Enjoyed the football without supporting any team.

If Ireland or Scotland had qualified and England didn't, I wouldn't be routing for anyone, i'd just enjoy the football with biting me nails off and shouting at the TV.

I was wondering what you would do asI think most fill follow a team.

I couldn't give a shit about it to be honest, I'd love to see Messi steal the show though, the guy is simply phenomenal and the Dutch are usually worth a watch too

Have to agree with Messi. He is first class. I think Christiano Ronaldo will have a good World cup also

I'm quarter German so I will be supporting The Germans. I am not going to lie I would hate it if England won the world cup as the media have a tenancy to bring up 66 everytime when a world cup is going on or in the qualifying stage

I will support England, I would like to see them do well. Overall though you cant go wrong with the Germans or the French.

The Germans always seen to do well in major tournaments and can see then reaching last eight at least.

Yeah the media do go overboard when it comes to England. I think if they shouldn't critisise every tiny thing we do wrong (ie when one pass goes astray).

I usually go for the Germans if Scotland doesnt make it. I would like to see Argentina, Australia and America do well aswell. It would be good if England got to the semi finals at least.

I watch the England matches, but usually end up wanting a small, unfancied team who pull off a shock to win it.

Although in 2006, I picked the French out as the winners before the tournament, ended up having money on it with my old flat-mate, ended up cheering them on.

if england win it i will never read a newspaper or watch a sky sports match analysis for at least 50 years because england have still been yapping on about that world cup win.now imagine if they win it again but saying that i would prefer england to win it than france.better for arrogant cunts to win it than cheating cunts

ireland would go on even longer as theyve never even gone far

maybe but it was 50 something years ago and English pundits bring it up at every chance they can even tough no one cares anymore

And Hursts first goal in extra time never even crossed the line 8)

I have decieded to support England alongside my usual Germany and France. I dont know why but I really want them to do well and I will be rooting for them.

You can't support England and Germany. They are probably the 2 biggest rivals in international football

I meant as a neutral watching. Since Scotland didnt qualify it leaves me with my usual Germany and France but I would also like to see England do well aswell. I think France will go out in the first round of the knockout stages, and I would actually like to see Germany play England.

The media go all out in over hyping England at every tournament we qualify for. To have us down as one of the favourites is ridiculous. We'll do our usual trick of getting to the quarters and choking and going out on penalties because we can't get the job done against a better nation in 90 minutes. It's crap being English, so when we get knocked out I go for the crazy Dutch

Try being Scottish, Welsh or Irish then at least you qualify for tournaments and get to the quarters/semis.

We qualify, the nation goes into a frenzy thinking we're going to win it only for us to balls it up. I've decided this year to watch the games but not to expect much this time

Aye but its better than saying "oh we have qualified but have no chance off wining" England have a great chance if all 11 players play really well. Hyping up a match gets the crowd and players up for the match.

I will always remember the Euro Qualifiers for 2008 and it went down to a winner take all match between Scotland and Italy. The press in Scotland built that game up every day in the paper with over a month until the match, I thought it was amazing.

The day finally came and Hampden was electric, Gordon Brown was even there. That was honestly the best atmosphere I have seen. The 5 oclock kick off helped aswell, I like a late kick off.

I bought the retro 1978 Scotland shirt for that game. My local pub (which wasn't really local to me) had a massive Scottish group in there who I spoke to a lot and still do occasionally so I watched the match with them. Also met my ex girlfriend that night as well. Good day apart from the result

It was such an emotional game. So are you English or Scottish then?

I watched it with about 20 people crammed into a living room with drink a plenty. The atmosphere in the house was great with everyone singing etc. Unfortunately it isnt like that with Football where I come from anymore. When Scotland equalised we were all jumping up and down and hugging each other for about 5 minutes and some were getting a bit too emotional haha.
