SpikeTV Executive Talks About iMPACT! Moving To Mondays

Spike TV senior vice president Brian Diamond commented to TheSteelCage.net on the possibility of TNA iMPACT! moving to Monday nights.

"It's a consideration," Diamond said. "Obviously the results of Monday were extremely encouraging for us to take that under advisement. It's something that we'll look at. At what point we do it or in what manner we do it remains to be seen, but it's definitely something we're taking more seriously than we did, say a year ago.

Diamond says that TNA has been improving the production values of iMPACT! in recent months and now has many of the key pieces in place to make some moves.

"I think all the right ingredients are there right now. The right players, the right talent, the right production personnel. From a production standpoint, going to HD in October really boosted the look and the feel of TNA Wrestling. Now, between production, talent and the people behind the scenes, it's a great recipe for a great TV meal. But (moving to Monday's) is something we're looking at very closely. We haven't made any big decisions yet but it's something we're considering."

I just think TNA could really mess stuff up trying to move to Mondays too soon, there is no way they will keep the same hype they had for last Monday every week, and it took Jeff Hardy returning, Hulk Hogan debuting, Eric Biscoff debuting, and then all the others joining to get that, you can not recreate that feeling week in and week out.

8m people watched Wrestling in America on Monday Night compared to the 5m that usually watch it

You might not create that feeling every week however its a platform you have to build on, while I'm not sure what should be done right now, what I am positive about is that TNA can no longer go on taping shows so far in advance, we had a live broadcast Monday Night and less than 24 hours later have a show taped for 9 days time, that loses major interest

But I think taking it to live Monday Nights permentaly might not be such a good idea.

Why is that? other than they might not be able to create the same buzz, which is the gamble people need to take, they have a roster and name value capable of keeping and building a fan base, what they need is good booking to go along with it

Do you think Russo is the man for the good booking they need?

Surely going live on a Thursday would be a good start, then look to go to Mondays 6 months to a year down the line? With the occasional monday shown in test the water,so to speak.

Russo gets bad press, maybe if Hogan and Bischoff where their to filter his ideas then yeah, he could be a good guy to have booking, Russo gets a lot of stick for WCW but you have to remember he was at the heart of all the good stuff the WWF where doing in 1997

I just think going head to head with Raw, even for just one hour of the show might not be a good idea at this point in time, I do believe if TNA keep on growing at the rate they are they will be able to do it, maybe by the end of 2010, but at the moment I can't even see them competing.

Well until they do it will be up for debate, the WWE need to up their game or people might just start watching out of protest, TNA did numbers they have never did before on Monday Night, for them thats a success, getting 2m viewers weekly would be a major success

It could possibly work if they did a monthly live monday after the ppvs?

2 live shows in 2 days might be asking a bit much, it might be better if they had the live show the Monday BEFORE the PPV to help spark interest in the PPV
