I hate to get technical but if they maintain the layout from the 2006 world cup.
Then Group A winner vs Group B Runner Up would be in section A
and
Then Group B winner vs Group A Runner Up would be in section B

meaning they can only then face each other in the final not the quarters

I do really like Defoe, but I'm just not sure that he's quite at the level needed. Robinson has been overrated for years, but Hart looks like he certainly has potential, he's just not ready yet, maybe by the next World Cup though.

I've got a sneaky feeling the Dutch are going to get to the final. Being in South Africa then they're going to have a huge support and will basically be the home team for most games. Add to that they went through the qualifiers with a 100% record and that the climate should suit the teams more used to cooler conditions rather than the mediterranean and S.American teams then my money is on the Orange.

thats the thing though, he was over rated, found a smaller club and is now playing alot better than foster and them lot.

just think fabio has him in mind, plus he was only shite cos of media hype/media dissing and the genral way the media makes people hate our own players. i hope fabio bans all news media and mobiles for the entire world cup.

IMO fuck your home life, you are there for one reason, to win the world cup, cope for a few weeks without a phone and any links to england.

I would love to see it, but they just have a habit of bottling it. Remember at the Euro's when they were amazing, then came up against Russia and just didn't get going at all. As for their qualification record, they should have had 100% as they had by far the easiest group, Scotland were one of the main challengers for fuck sake, and we're absolutely pathetic.

He might be playing a bit better now, but he still doesn't seem to be an international class keeper to me, and if it was the pressure causing him to fuck up, then puting him in the World Cup is surely a recipe for disaster.

Not entirely sure why people keep saying the climate won't suit Brazil - most of them play in Europe anyway, so it won't be anything new to them at all!

Its not in Europe though, most of the Brazilians playing in Europe are in Spain (I think)

But it's a European style climate, it's going to be cold, not very humid. Previous World Cups have been in the summer, which has knackered a good few countries not used to the heat. African winters tend to get a bit nippy, but as most of the Argies and Brazilians play in Europe, I can't see it being the problem that people think it will be.

As did England. I can see what he is saying though, people are saying England have a better chance because the climate should suite them, buy why should it suite them and not say, Argentina, who mostly have players who play in europe( all be it spain which is almost always hot).

I'm gonna be bold and say England out in the 2nd round and Spain for the win.

In a warm climate. I remember England playing in some obscene heat for 1 match (Paraguay, I think), and looking utterly shagged after 10 minutes.

South Africa in winter is going to be easier to play in - Spanish, Italian, German winters are all cold, the likes of Robinho will be used to English winters, Kaka started at Milan in the north of Italy which has a similar climate to the UK, they've all trawled over Europe in the Champions League, and can wear gloves and long sleeves. I'd rather play in the cold than the heat, that's for sure!
