Thoughts on the England Group, I think they'll finish third, their first game is against Italy and I think Italy will pass them off the park and beat them, same with Uruguay.

I don't think it's that bad of a group. I think the first game will be at a slow pace with England getting a draw. The next 2 games are winnable.

Uruguay are my pick to win the whole thing.

I'm optimistic. The game against Italy is in the amazon at 100 degree heat. Both teams are in the same position as natural climates on our countries are similar. Also 1st games are a lottery. As long as we don't loose that. Second game is Uruguay. Probably the hardest game. Third is against Costa Rica. It could come down to goal difference but I think we'll come 2nd.

The last 16 ( on paper ) game will be easier than the groups.

Don't think it will be as easy as that Mack, think Italy will pass England off the park again before Italy pick them off when they tire as they'll have pressed too much.

Italy aren't what they were, ageing team, and in the Euro's Balotelli didn't do much against us. I think we'll get through the group, then get hammered in the last 16.

also, the match against Italy has a 2 a.m. start in the UK...

It's a Saturday tho Grec. Youll still be up with mini Grec V2 doing the 3 hour feeds

And then having to crawl out of bed and amuse a toddler...

USA are in the real group of death. England will still finish bottom, but have a chance to get Balotelli and Suarez sent off, so there could be a miracle. Get them off early, then tire the ten men out. Also play complete different 11 in first two games.

I like our group. Italy and Uruguay are tough teams but this is the group stage. Anyone can take points of the others. I think we'll get 4 points. Draw v Italy. Win Costa Rica. Anything from Uruguay is a bonus. I think Italy will get 4 points too. So I think it will come down to goal difference.

some good things about a challenging group are 1. It's the world cup even Iran might beat someone, so does it really matter who you play? 2. If you qualify from a tough group then at least you are confident. 3 if it's a tough group you don't need many points to go through 2nd if every team takes points off eachother. Costa rica will most likely nick a win, so it might be against Italy.

I can see England getting 1 point max, but if I had to motivate them, there are positives for the players to focus on.

England game brought forward by 3 hours, will mean it will be even hotter, not ideal for either side but Fifa caved to tv broadcasters over it.

Not surprised, England vs Italy will be one of the biggest group stage matches in the tournament.

Said before I thought wed get Uruguay just so Suarez can destroy us , surely bad news for Liverpool fans though as come end of season the british players are going to be trying to take him out like when Becks played in spain.

As for group Italy we could get a draw we beat them in friendly other year and drawed after 120 minutes at euros , then beat costa rico and hope Italy lose to Uruguay and don't beat costa rica by as much as we do . Think goal difference will defiantly come in to play.

But as everyone has said if we get through we will get trounced in knockouts.
