- WWF Hall of Famer Captain Lou Albano has passed away aged 76. Albano suffered a severe heart attack in 2005 and has had failing health ever since. We reported the news yesterday that Albano had been put in a hospice.
Captain Lou Albano was an instrumental star in transforming the then WWWF from a regional to a national promotion. As well as wrestling success Albano transformed himself into one of the most villionous managers of all time managing the likes of Pat Patterson, Don Muraco and Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine. Albano carved a prolific legacy that remains unmatched by guiding over a dozen teams to the WWWF World Tag Team Championships. Under his tutelage, Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito, The Valiant Brothers, Wild Samoans, The Moondogs, and The British Bulldogs.
By the end of his career, Albano managed over 50 different wrestlers who won two dozen championships.

Speaking on behalf of the Albano family, Wrestler's Rescue is sad to report that Captain Lou Albano has died at the age of 76.
Albano carved out his place in pro wrestling history for, as best put by Bruno Sammartino, his inimitable "gift of gab," all complemented by his trademark rubber bands and Hawaiian shirts. Albano enjoyed a rich career as both a wrestler and manager, gaining worldwide fame as Cyndi Lauper's father in the smash hit, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."

| Sure did, I remember a shoot when someone said he had the easiest job in the world because thats exactly who he was
He would go to work in his Hiawian Shirt, he would drink some beer, go on the stick and talk some madness, go out to the ring, be himself and put people over then back int he lockerroom he would drink some more beer, then after the show he would go to a club with the same Hiawian shirt on and party all night | |
