| I dont know if alot of you know this but a local New York business newspaper is reporting that WWE must cutback costs and earn some money and are willing to sell all assets and rights to the WCW name and John Bradshaw Layfield is interested in purchasing the assets and the WCW name.
The current believed potential price that Vince McMahon is willing to sell to JBL for us $8.1million USD and it's just the matter of wondering if JBL will purchase, but other newspapers are reporting that JBL and Hulk Hogan will purchase the assets and the name and others are reporting that Jeff Jarrett would like to purchase the assets and the name.
The reason WWE are selling is that there is a large decline in sales for WWE selling WCW dvd's and online matches and there is no point holding the assets and the companys old name under the WWE banner plus Vince McMahon has also made it clear that there would be no point in making a WCW brand as there is far too many brands and that we could soon see ECW changing its name too.

| JBL wanted a new venture didnt he reckon they could do somthing with this and if it were JBL links with mcmahon would still be strong so he could therefore work out a link if he ever wanted his own company I know he talked about setting up a company that gets younger talent the vital skills to make it as a full blown sports entertainer, including vital acting classes etc. | |

| Thats is potentially great news, I'd definitely like to see JBL involved along with TNA for their talent and Hulk Hogan, I'd also be willing to bet Bischoff would be interested in developments too, particularly if Hogan wants to get involved | |

The worst day in pro wrestling history since he made the cable providers drop Starrcade from Thanksgiving in favour of Survivor Series!! PPV, another WCW invention that Vince stole!

| McMahon never had many great original ideas, what he did have though was an ability to look at something and see potential to make it bigger and better | |

Yeah, I'll give him that one with regards to his own product! Just a shame that he can't give folk credit for doing the same! Possibly off on a tangent but his attitude to WCW was that it was only successful because they stole his guys and tried to hurt his product! Bullshit!! Look at the guys that came over and, barring Hogan and Savage, they were all guys that had been in WCW before being "stolen" by the WWF! Not to mention Bischoff being the one who upped the number of PPVs and decided that live TV was the way to go! Both paths that Vince was happy to step on at a later date! The reason WCW was successful was because it was always an innovator, it just took a combination of ego and McMahon taking too long to cotton on to things before it went horribly, horribly wrong!

| WCW was its own worst enemy though, for all the innovation it produced when it needed it most around 1998/99 time they simply didn't have enough faith in the younger talent like Jericho, Beniot, Guerrero , Malenko and Saturn, sure they gave them plenty of TV time but very seldom did they give them big TV moments, those guys along with Austin and Pillman where never used correctly when they should have been, they built them all up brilliantly yet when the time came to move them to the next level they just didn't seem interested in doing it
Also, I do take your point regarding guys who went back to WCW, guys like Hall and Nash, however in fairness, they got completely repackaged in the WWF and where completely different to the guys that left WCW in the early 90s although Lex Luger was WCW made

| This might be a stupid question but, if wwe were to sell the WCW assets, world this include the World Heavyweight title (formally the WCW title), if so they're gonna loose the best looking belt | |

Technically that belt has nothing to do with the WCW title. It was an original creation by the WWE and doesn't share the WCW lineage, despite the two belts being pretty much identical.

| The belt is compelty different, I think it starts with a Triple H reign. Might be wrong though. Could be Shawn Michaels. | |

| Well you had the WCW and WWE titles which became the WWE Undisputed title when Chris Jericho won them both. When Brock Lesnar became Undisputed champ he decided he didn't want to be appearing on both RAW and Smackdown so that became the WWE title and they created the World Heavyweight Championship as a brand new title which was made to look identical to the old WCW title.
Triple H was the first champion, which is probably why it looks the way it does, as he most likely wanted to have a belt that looked like the World titles that Ric Flair held.

| The WCW title was finished on the night Jericho became Undisputed champ - the current World Heavyweight titlle was started in 2002 or 2003 when Trips moved toRaw and got given the title created by Eric Bischoff. | |

| Im sure that design used to be an old NWA belt too? Werent it the belt that Flair brought into WWF back in the day to fued for the WWF title with? (I remember seeing something like that a while ago? Not sure...) I dunno when WCW started using it though. | |
