Christian not coming?

Reports are doing the rounds on a few forums I'm on that Christian Cage has backed out of his deal to go to the WWE, there are a few conflicting rumours, none confirmed but it looks like he might be on his way back to TNA

I can only get drips and drabs in the conversation because the guys who are involved are in pay forums where they get more up to date information, some of the things I've heard is the E want him to grow his hair, lack of direction for his character, want him to be the goof again, cant offer him any guarantees he will main event, want him to lead ECW as the main face against Swagger

Now I don't know what if any of them are true but apparently its busted beyond repair!

WWE had a chance to bring back one of the top all round wrestlers in the business today, who they were on very good terms with and they screw it up! Well, if this story is true that is, which I don't think it is. I think this is a rumour started by some people who are frustrated there has been no official news regarding Christian and WWE.

I hope he doesn't go back to TNA where he will just be thrown straight back into the Main Event Mafia storyline which had the potential to be great then fizzled out.

Well a wrestling journo is the guy who revealed it, so who knows, however if he earns his crust doing Radio for wrestling shows then not many are going to touch him if he is a puppet

I can believe this, Christian may well just be taking his time to weigh up his options before deciding where to go. If the rumours you mentioned of where they wanted his character to go, and to be the face of ECW are true, I can't really say I'm surprised, although I thought they may have waited a few months after his return before reverting to that. Hopefully no matter where he goes though, he will be treated as a main eventer like he truly deserves.

I agree with that, I want to see him back in the WWE because there are so many options there, but if he is not going to be main event then I would rather see him back in TNA

That being said, if it where for financial gain, then being top man on ECW will be far more profitable than being the main man in TNA

I still think he will sign, good on him though, if these rumours are true at least he cares about the direction of his character

Be amazing for TNA if he went back there now like, hope he does to be honest.

It would be excellent for TNA however I don't think it would be good for Cage, it would just be settling for what he has, anyway, I thought he was vastly misused for most of 2008 in TNA

Maybe so, but you can hardly claimed WWE used him that well in the end. Last I remember of him was having temper tantrums and having meaningless European title matches.

Plus I'm convinced he wont be a success in WWE. They just wont be able to use him right at all.

No the E never used him well at the end of his stint, however in TNA he was seen by many as 'the man' of the orginisation something he never was in the E which for me makes him noting being used properly in TNA worse

But it's TNA who've given him the platform to develop and prove himself to everybody. Not many missed him when he walked from WWE and TNA turned him into a star because they had confidence in him to lead the company. It's not as if they used him just because people had heard of him.

Many including Dixie Carter considered him as the first big name to jump ship, I saw it as a masterstoke, up there with the WWF getting Jericho in 1999

TNA might have gave him the platform but the bottom line was he was the most talented all rounder on the roster as soon as he joined TNA and not to be pushed would have been madness

Now he done all that, he was still one of the two top guys along with Kurt Angle, yet for most of 2008 he was jobbing, its one thing to job as a recognised midcarder in the WWE but to start jobbing in TNA when your a main eventer is scandelous, he was used in everyway to job in every type match

The last thing TNA would want is for Christian to go through 2008 as their top dog (big cheese, head honcho, number one, the boss...) and then leave them for WWE.

Giving him a modest run with nothing spectacular lessens the impact of his departure, had he signed with TNA, I'm sure he would have had more joy in 2008.

Doubt it, the problem was they had nothing for him, Kurt Angles contract is up in September, you cant say his last 3 or 4 months have been modest and he is there (big cheese, head honcho, number one, the boss...)

Are saying Kurt will be jobbing out soon too?

That's a bit of a catch 22, right there. TNA supposedly won't give Christian the position at the top of the card and use him properly because they are afraid to lose him, but Christian left WWE because they didn't use him properly.
TNA gave Christian a lot of credit when he debuted, I wonder what kept them from following up on that? It's a bit pointless to hype Christian and then pull back and say "welp, he could leave in a year, best not push him too much".

Am I the only one that is dribbling at the mouth a bit when thinking about a Christian vs. Swagger feud? Apart from all the possible Hardy/Edge/Christian combinations this to me would be a very good way of using him.

Thats Bull shit. What is WWE doing they could have got another main roster superstar. They need more storylines and this could have give them a long term one. I just don't see what there thinking, thats if its true whats going around

Sexton, Matt Hardy has wanted his hair cut for years but the E wouldn't let him because of his image and Kevin Nash said one of the main factors he didn't return to the E was because they wanted him to dye his hair, its a big part of a character, particularly christian, long hair represents the early to midcarder and the tag team specialist, short hair signaled his path which led him to becoming a main eventer, image is everything in the WWE

Guessing the story has come Bubba (the love Sponge). If so then yes he's one of if not THE best source for info bar official sources. The other week he was discussing the potential match of Hogan v Austin at Mania. Within minutes Hogan got on the phone to him and said he'd be up for it and he'd put Austin over.

Bubba might be a reliable source, but Hogan is not. I would like to receive a nickel for every time Hogan has boasted about big plans he is involved in, and which later turned out to be absolute bollocks.

But that's just me hating Hogan. To be honest I have no idea who this Bubba the Love Sponge is. I gather it is some sort of talk show where a lot of wrestlers come to talk about stuff in a slightly kayfabe-breaking way?

Grendal what Maccs was getting at was that Bubba is so highly thought of within the wrestling comunity fans and workers alike, that Hogan thought instantly of contacting him as soon as he aired a thought on a possible Hogan vs Austim WM match

Or Hogan is using the show to get more publicity, and as a way of getting interest in the match without having to be seen as begging Vince for a job / money / publicity? I seem to remember him being on the Bubba show almost weekly when Hogan Knows Best was on; now that's finished, and he's got an almihty law suit and divorce lined up, the poor little lamb needs all the cash he can get.
