| Can you explain the above roles? in my opinion...
The false number 9 is basically the guy behind the striker in the 4-4-1-1 formation.
the number 10 role is a striker.
surely it cant be any simpler than that?

| i think in a 433 a false 9 plays the centre forward role but drops a little bit deep, sort of what messi does at barcalona, like inbetween the midfield and defence. drops a bit deep picks up the ball moves it along moves up further.
a number 10 is sort of like a central attacking midfielder just in front of the midfield and just behind the striker can also be a winger according to wikipedia.

Not disagreeing with you mate, just making a debate / argument for each one.

Not disagreeing with you mate, just making a debate / argument for each one. I think they're pretty much the same but a false 9 has a bit more freedom in that he can move back into a centre forward role while a number 10 stays in that area.

I think they're pretty much the same but a false 9 has a bit more freedom in that he can move back into a centre forward role while a number 10 stays in that area. If you look at Theiry Henry he was one of the best examples of a false 9 he would come deep and get the ball create for himself. Where a traditional 9 say like Alan shearer would stay in the box. A number 10s role is to make darting runs into the box to create space and open things up for a number 9 like Juninho used to do for Middlesbrough creating chances for Ravenalli.
