Dave Batista May Make MMA Debut in UK

MMAWeekly.com has learned through independent sources that the rumored MMA debut of former WWE wrestler David Batista looks likely to take place in May… but not on U.S. soil.

It has come to light that the main delay in his debut has been aligning his desire to make a professional MMA debut ahead of September, which is when the aspirational heavyweight fighter will begin shooting an undisclosed film project.

Several promotions have been vying for his services, most notably Scott Coker’s Strikeforce outfit, but it appears from sources close to the fighter that the British based BAMMA promotion is emerging as the front runner ahead of their upcoming card at Wembley Arena.

At the time of writing, BAMMA officials declined to comment on the situation, but MMAWeekly.com will stay close to this story as more details come to light.

Thought he was going back to WWE as they were told to plan a return for him after his movie

BAMMA 5 featured Paul Semtex Daley who is still contracted to Strikeforce, so Batista could do both... but he should hurry up as the older you get, the crappier you get and he's already old as it is.

BTW I'm hoping he does BAMMA as the UK MMA scene needs a big boost and a big name MMA rookie would be a cheaper big draw for a company that doesn't have UFC money.

Strikeforce have moved the second bracket of their big Heavyweight tournament back to September now as two big names were taken out (Fedor and Arlovski).

They would love to stick Batista in simply as a draw as arguably the two big guns have gone now. I'm sure he'd get his arse kicked but he would sell tickets at the same time.

Not sure if Reid vs Sapp could happen due to there weight classes (ie Reid is a middle weight, Sapp is a heavy weight) although fighters in mma always piss about with there weight so who knows (not to mention they could agree to a catch weight fight).

Batista vs Shamrock sounds good and Shamrock was in the crowd at BAMMA 5, so it could happen.

I don't care who gets to do it, just as long as Batista gets the holy bejesus beaten out of him!

I cant remember where I read it, either on here or somewhere else that he wanted Lashley for his first fight?
