| The world championships start next week. I know not many of you are darts fans but what are people's thoughts?
Phil Taylor is 8/15 and is the favourite but with the year he's having I think this will be a very entertaining year. The likes of Raymond van Barneveld, James Wade, Mervyn King and Simon Whitlock all stand a good chance.
Another few players who could suprise people and do really well are Gary Anderson, Co Stompe, Adrian Lewis and the one I like watching, Mark Webster.
BTW Raymond van Barneveld is 12/1 to win. I'll be putting £10 on him.

| First shock of the tournement Steve Beaton loses to qualifier Mark Hylton (3-2 in sets). Beaton has had a decent year this year Hylton onlly being darts full time for around 6 months. | |

| Second shock of the tournement - Co Stompe beaton by Steve Wright 3-1. Not the most exciting games tbh.
Also, Colin Lloyd may find himself in trouble. He was hitting poor darts, scored a 45. He went to collect his darts and punched the board! He won the atch 3 sets to 2 (deciding set went to tie break)
Last night Phil Taylor won 3-0, but was way below par. If he played someone half decent he would of went out.
Mark Webster also won 3-0, dropping 2 legs in the whole game.

| No shocks in day 3 - but possibly the worst game of darts ever shown on TV was tonight. Andy Hamilton defeated Dennis Smith 3-0. Terrible game of darts. issed doubles, sall scores, it had the lot.
Mark Dudbridge won his 1st gae on TV for a year against Alex Roy. Simon Whitlcok and Gary Anderson eased through to the second round with 3-0 victories.

| Day 3: Shock of the day came from qualiier Pers Laursen convincenly beating 3 time world champion 3-0. John Part was ill and suffering from an ear infection.
Laursen now faces Phil Taylor in the 2nd round. Taylor should win this. I think him coming second in the Sports Personality of the Year on Sunday will give him a huge boost.
Day 4: No shocks but James Wade looks intrested this time round as he had a 3-0 victory also - dropping 2 legs in the whole match

| I have been watching as usual and have even put on a flutter with two players. I reckon Mark Webster could go a long way and I put a tenner on him.
Also put a fiver on Whitlock to win.
Would have gone with Barney since hes my favourite but I had better odds on these two,.

| anderson averaged over 108 in his win over the pieman and is now 2nd favourite at around 4/1 to win
and if whitlock wins tonight against van der voort, him against lewis could be the match of the competition

| I was thinking that myself Pod.
Taylor Barney Wade Whitlock Lewis Anderson Webster Jenkins
Also, Anderson and Lewis have been the best two players in the tournement so it should be a cracking final.

| Just found out that Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis are in the Premier League along with Phil Taylor and James Wade. So Barney and Whitlock need a wildcard place, which I think they will, along with Mark Webster and one other guy.
Terry Jenkins seems the obvious choice but I think Vincent van der Voort is in with a shout.

| i was slightly disappointed that jenks got a wildcard, hes not gonna be a guy that will set the premier league alive, his route to the semis was by the easiest, and even though im not a fan of the crowds at times, you do need someone like nicholson or king who can fulfill the pantomime villain role | |
