11th Merseyside Player Robbed

The masked raiders who robbed England defender Phil Jagielka are ruthless thugs who target the homes of Premiership stars while they are playing away with their clubs.

In the past three years 15 Premier League footballers living in the North West have fallen prey to robbers who think nothing of terrorising women and children to get their hands on cash, jewellery, expensive cars and other valuables.

Those targeted include Liverpool stars Steven Gerrard, Pepe Reina and Dirk Kuyt and Manchester United's Darren Fletcher, and police believe all the raids could be linked.

But this time the Away Day Gang made a mistake. They expected Jagielka, 27, to be away with his club Everton at the Carling Cup tie in Hull.

The gang burst in on Wednesday just after the game kicked off at 8pm. They found the injured defender had stayed home to watch football on the TV with three ex-teammates from Sheffield United.

The gang threatened Jagielka, Michael Tonge, 27, who now plays for Premiership side Stoke City, Grant Smith, 29, and Steven Spencer, 27, with knives and made each hand over cash and jewellery. They made Jagielka open a safe before snatching two Rolex watches and a Breitling diamond watch.

Their total haul is said to be worth £10,000. The robbers escaped in a Range Rover belonging to Jagielka's wife Emily. Luckily she and their two young children were not at home.

Jagielka's father Jan yesterday said his son did not want to talk about the robbery.

He added: "He's fine. They're all OK." No one was injured in the raid. But in previous attacks the Away Day Gang has demonstrated its ruthlessness.

The victim before Jagielka was United's Scottish star Fletcher. Robbers smashed their way into his home in nearby Bowdon while he was in Italy with the team.

They held a knife to the throat of fiancee Hayley Grice before snatching her £30,000 engagement ring. Her mother and the couple's two-year-old twin sons were in the house.

The first raid took place in June 2006 at the home of then-Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek in Caldy, Wirral.

He was burgled while on holiday in Poland. He lost a Porsche and jewellery.

In the following months Everton's Andy van der Meyde and Tony Hibbert and Liverpool's Daniel Agger, Lucas Leiva, Peter Crouch, Florent Sinama-Pongolle, Pepe Reina, Robbie Keane and Dirk Kuyt were all targeted.

In one of the highest profile cases, Gerrard's wife Alex Curran was confronted by four robbers when he was away for a Champions League game. The couple's daughters were asleep at the time at their home in Formby, Merseyside.

In July last year, raiders in ski masks kicked in the front door of England striker Emile Heskey in Hale, Cheshire, threatening his fiancee with a knife. She handed over jewellery and keys to a BMW.

In December, thieves with knives robbed the wife of then Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz while he was away for a match at Portsmouth.

James Birch, 20, was jailed in December 2006 for two-and-a-half years for stealing from the homes of Dudek, Crouch, Agger, Van der Meyde, Sinama-Pongolle and Hibbert.

A police source said yesterday of the Jagielka raid: "We aren't ruling out that this incident could be linked to other similar robberies."

surely a bit of policework can find the cunts i.e

find out where they are shipping the shit off to, shouldnt be too hard to find aload of fancy cars with the amount of cameras we have in the UK. find the time of robbery escape, look at local footage for an hour and look for the speeding fucking rangerover.

find out who they are, and possibley where they plan to strike next via survielance, easy peasy.

have a team in place and boom, burglers with shat pants at the masked men waiting for them.

atleast part of this plan is possible, examin the fucking pile of cctv the country has installed.
