OFFICIAL - Kaka signs for Real

Brazilian international Kaka has finally made the switch from AC Milan to Real Madrid.

The Spanish media have been claiming the deal, worth approximately €65 million, had been as good as done for some time, but it has now finally been confirmed by Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Real Madrid's statement read:

"Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, Kaka, is a Real Madrid player after an agreement was reached with AC Milan. The Brazilian footballer has now successfully passed all medical tests. Kaka has signed a contract with Real Madrid for the next six seasons."

Meanwhile, AC Milan's statement read:

"From next season, Kaka will play at Real Madrid. Milan thank Kaka the man and the great champion for his decisive contribution to the many victories over the last six years.

"It will be very difficult to fill the void that Kaka will leave, as he is a shining example of commitment and professionalism. A. C. Milan, on behalf of the Rossoneri managers, players and supporters, send him the most cordial and affectionate wishes for the continuation of his sporting career."

The Move

Los Blancos gave Kaka a medical today, flying a doctor out to meet the former Sao Paulo man while he was on international duty with Brazil.

The deal was made official after the 27-year-old spoke with Milan president Silvio Berlusconi over the telephone, although Milan officials have been reluctantly admitting over the past few days that there was the possibility their player could leave the San Siro.

Kaka joined Milan in 2003, winning the Ballon d'Or during his time with the club and played a starring role in the 2004 Scudetto and 2007 Champions League triumphs.

Newly elected Real Madrid president Florentino Perez promised to bring in big names after taking over, in order to restore the club to it's former glory after their inability to challenge for Europe's top prize in recent seasons. It appears that Kaka was the first name on his list.

Would have liked to see him in the Premier League, but I guess this is best for Liverpool. AC Milan will be annoyed, there isn't a player out there they can really replace him with even with that massive sum given to them.

First of the new Galacticos and with them chasing Ronaldo aswell it looks like they will be spending some serious money. I would have loved to see Kaka move to chelsea.

When city get involved now the fee mysteriously doubles.

Man City only bid so high to trump other bids, he had no desire at all to go to Man City, also, I think the press where reporting the entire deal at City, £60m fee plus £10m per year over 5 years

Buying in a team of superstars might look tasty but I would stake serious money on Barcelona tearing Madrid a new arsehole next season, far superior team and can't see a money team getting them.

It's more what Real can do against the other teams though, they have a really good manager this year, also, it's going to be interesting to see what happens with Henry and Eto'o, both could be on their way to City

great player. i had privelage of seeing him in person in february when rangers played ac milan at ibrox. everyone in my area were applauding him and his first touch is the best in the world .

Aye if only Kenny Miller had a fraction of the quality of Kaka's first touch, he might be a half decent player.

Kaka is quality, managed to see him up close a few times in the last couple of years since we always seem to get drawn against AC Milan in the Champions League, top top player, Pirlo always stole the show though

Kaka should have left Milan ages ago, they have been a poor team for a while, even in 2007 when they won the European Cup they weren't that great a side, AC will not be challenging for Serie A for a while yet
