After tonight's loss, to a cripple I might add, it's become apparent than Randy Orton's reign(s) as Heavyweight Champion are worse than that of Edge's last few, Jeff Hardy's tonight and C.M Punk's original run as Heavyweight Champion, combined.
Let's take a look, roll the clip.. *waits impatiently* What the fuck do you mean we got no clip? Ah fuck, okay then.. we'll do it the old fashion way.
Summerslam 2004-Unforgiven 2004:
In what is arguably one of Randy's best Championship matches, ever, Orton as a young rising Star defeated one of Canada's best, in Canada, in Chris Benoit. Orton's reign lasted not even a full month, ending 3 days shy of it.
Orton the following night from his Summerslam victory, was cast out of Evolution, like any number of loser's voted off the Island from Survivor. This followed up with a one-on-one encounter against Triple H, at Unforgiven, in which Orton quickly dropped his Heavyweight Championship - before he could truly even realize the greatness it holds.
No Mercy 2007-Backlash 2008:
This was without question his most impressive streak as Champion. But the true story lies within how he won the Championship, and whom he defeated, defending the Championship. Let's take a look.
At No Mercy, Orton was awarded the Championship, making him an automatic 2-time Heavyweight Champion. Triple H instantly came out, challenging the new Champion - and quickly suckered him (and McMahon) into the match. Triple H won the title, making Orton's reign last all of one whole match.
Orton regained the Championship for the 3rd time, the same night, defeating Triple H in a Last Man Standing match-up. But not without knowing Triple H had went through hell all throughout the night, including a lengthy match-up against Umaga, while Orton rested.
From this point, Orton retained his title on Pay per view's against the likes of; Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, Jeff Hardy, John Cena & Triple H. However, once again you must look deeper into the situations..
He defeated a Shawn Michaels, who was banned from using Sweet Chin Music. In fact, the finish of the match came when H.B.K almost forgot, attempting the kick, only to pull back - a split second long enough, for Orton to hit an R.K.O.
He retained his Championship against Chris Jericho, via losing by DQ, after J.B.L got involved in the match-up, seemingly moments before Orton was ready to tap-out in the Walls of Jericho.
He retained his Championships against Jeff Hardy, only by one R.K.O, after Hardy had completely dominated Orton throughout their entire match-up at the Royal Rumble.
He retained his Championship, once again by DQ, against John Cena at No Way Out.
He defeated both Triple H and John Cena at Wrestlemania, but not without allowing the Game and Cena to battle it out, picking off one - after they'd taken out the other.
He ended up losing his Championship, once again, to Triple H - at Backlash.
Backlash 2009-Extreme Rules 2009:
His most recent Heavyweight run, has come and now gone. It all began in the unlikeliest of ways. A Six Man Tag Team contest brought Orton the Championship, after he punted the Game in the head - but not without Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes (Legacy) helping him along the way.
This followed up by retaining his Championship at Judgment Day, via DQ against Batista.. only to then drop the Championship tonight, in a Steel Cage match, against an Animal who had been previously injured - so much so, that he'll be on the shelf for another undetermined period of time - yet the Company decided to still, give him the title over letting Orton retain. ------------------------------------------------------- orton desparetly needed a long title reign.but the wwe blew it.now orton is the next edge and now we have to watch boretista as champ |

| The problem is, WWE doesn't seem to know how to book heel champions these days. In the WWE writers minds, heels are bad guys and so should constantly win by nefarious means, not realising that this actually hurts their credibility, and that even bad guys need to show they are the better man from time to time. | |

| Chris Jericho really needs a 6 month title reign, he would show how its done, let him book himself and he and The Undertaker and a face Edge would tear it up with one on ones, add others to that from occasion to occasion like CM Punk and/or Umaga and Jericho would be an epic champion
He is one of the few that is trusted with booking himself, or at least having a major say in it, he would be an outstanding champion if he is away from all the big names and ego's like he is

| I don't really think they are doing much for the IC title to be honest, yes they are feuding with it just now but its really just in the way, the real story is about the mask, Rey is just a top performer Jericho wants to work with just now, it was meant to be Taker but as he is out just now him and Rey are killing time
I suspect Rey will cause Jericho to lose the title to John Morrison then Jericho/Rey will have a blow off match where if Rey loses he loses his mask forever, so he will probably go over Jericho

| i'm not a fan of these frequent title changes. i want to see someone (preferrably a heel) hold it 4 a while | |

| I'll get back on topic, I've never really liked Randy Orton as the Champion and found him far more entertaining as a challenger, back in 07 when he was after Cena it was building nicely yet when Cena got injured Orton's title reign from No Mercy 07 until Backlash 08 looked weak until he went over in the Triple Threat at Mania 24, so for about a month he looked strong then they dropped him
Same as this title run, from the week before Royal Rumble to WrestleMania he looked brilliant then he didn't get the win at Mania and his win at Backlash felt like it was done just to right a wrong, since Backlash he has been made to look pathetic

| I think the problem with Orton is nothing to do with his ability but more the way he is booked.I agree with Gaffer about prefering him as a challenger especially with Cena when he Punted his dad in the head and to a lesser extent his feud with HHH up to Mania. It just suits his charachter more as someone who will strike at the most unlikely of times which you can't do as a champion.
But back onto my main point,Even though he is a heel they don't have to book him to lose every PPV match by DQ or Count Out,They need to have him go over clean against some People unless they're going into a long feud with that person which is then the time I feel it's acceptable for him to lose by Count out or DQ.

| The booking of him has been shambolic but its not the first time, if you look at No Way Out 2008 you will see he used the same tactic as he did at Judgement Day 09, cheap shot to the ref for a DQ, crap booking, thats the kind of end to a RAW not a PPV | |

| I don't like Orton, and don't really like him as champion or challenger, but for someone like Edge who seems to have the same problem I think he works better as challenger, I love the way he will do anything to win the title, now I don't really care that he drops the title quite quickly as I don't think it's harmed him really, his character IMO is one of the best WWE have ever created and it is still going strong. | |

| Both are very different though, Edge is sneaky in character, thats what we come to expect, but watching Orton pre champ take people out and be a bad ass then watch him be a complete coward as a champ, it makes no sense, Edge keeps in character the entire time | |

| It doesn't make any sense I agree.
I think Orton needs to be a tweener, he can then stay a bad ass type character, rebelling against the rule but also doesn't have to seen as weak because he isn't a heel.

| wwe should start making heels look strong it's been a while since i saw a heel champion win cleanly at a ppv.Heels aren't allowed to look strong and if they're the champion it's ridiculous. | |

| I get what your saying and I kinda agree, Edge has had plenty of interference in his matches lately but he has rarely been involved, its always someone with a grudge against his opponents and he never seems to be involved in whoever 'helps' him | |
