| On another site I'm a member of a poster said that the new letter from the Wrestling Observer this month is claiming that the WWE are looking at the possibility of bringing the Godwinns back to the WWE.
Henry O Godwin has already been resigned a few years ago to a development contract along with his 'cousin' Phineas I. Godwinn but both had been released soon after, however with plans now to reinvent the tag division it looks like they might be having another shot, from what I read on the forum from a few guys who seem to have read it, it could include Ray Gordy (Jesse) either as a manager who as a third partner, in what could be a play on the 'Freebird rule' which would almost certainly mean the idea is the brain child of Michael Hayes.
Ray Gordy and Henry O Godwinn have already teamed up under the WWE banner when Henry was last signed up and they reformed the Godwinns in one of WWE's territories, Jesse was known as 'Cousin Ray'
I'm not to sure what to make of this, I was never a fan of either wrestler when they where in their prime 12/13 years ago let alone now, both Godwinns are 40 (Phineas) and 45 (Henry) so might not have the longest time left but they are an actual tag team with an actual look and a gimmick, it might not be the most successful in terms of wins but if it helps re-establish the Tag Division then it can only be a good move.
Also, its been said that they might just return as 'Southern Justice' instead of The Godwinns but many believe if they do return and at the moment its just a big IF then it will be as the Pig Farmers
Thoughts? | |

| The return of HOG and PIG? No thanks! Surely if they are looking to revamp the tag division, there's better teams than The Godwinns that they could use. They weren't good wrestlers, and the gimmick was pretty shit too. I hope this is just bullshit. | |

| I thought the gimmick wasn't all that bad to be honest, sure it wasn't money, but its realistic enough, to big angry farmers who just loved to fight | |

| bahaha HOG and PIG, awesome. I didn't like the Hillbilly Jim days, or the southern justice days, but remember when LOD broke Henry's neck? They came back as heels and were a better team for a bit, they gave the gimmick a 'Deliverance' style tweak and it seemed to do them wonders for a while. Although then again maybe it was just rubbing shoulders with LOD. If they are going to bring the Godwinns back, I would rather they left PIG out, the days of Naked Mideon have not been forgiven or forgotten | |

| The only good thing to come from The Godwinns, was when Triple H got slopped, and that's only funny when looking back at it now. | |

| As much as I didn't like either of the Godwinns, I don't really think you could bring back Henry without Phineas, even though Henry was an established singles before act before his 'cousin' came in | |

| I agree that it's better to have tag teams with a unified gimmick, but not at the expense of ability. Should we bring back The Nasty Boys and The Powers of Pain just cause they had a gimmick? No because they were poor, and wont have gotten any better with age. I'm sure there's plenty of teams with gimmicks and talent in the indys that WWE could sign up if they really are serious about the tag division this time. | |

| I actually liked the Nasty Bhoys in my younger days but thats besides the piont.
I agree there are other teams out there we would all prefer but its step be it a small step in the right direction of turning the wwe tag division around. And IMO that can only be a good thing.

| if they did it surely it would only be to get jesse a kick start? festus completely overshaddowed him with his pisspot gimmick but jesse seemed a fairly decent prospect.
get him over and get him a new partner with the help of these guys (never seen or heard of them ha? :/ )

I actually think that signing The Godwinns, even though they have an established gimmick, would be step in the wrong direction and would likely have no effect on turning the division around. To be honest, I don't really have any faith in WWE to reinvigorate the tag division. They've said these sort of things before, and outside of a brief refocussing of interest in the division, it has never lasted. I give this about 6 months tops before we're back to where we were again.

| I'm sorry but I don't want to see two fortysomething pig farmers who from what I've heard have limited wrestling ability and that was in their 1st run in WWE appear on my TV anytime soon. If WWE want an established gimmick, why not bring back La Resistance or a long shot, the Dudleyz? | |

| Well Dudleyz are under contract to TNA, so that's not possible. As for La Res, Sylvain Grenier is under contract to TNA as part of their French commentary team I think, so that wouldn't really be possible either. | |

| The Godwinns? Christ, no. They sucked in the mid-90's, even with Hillbillly Jim. they rejoin the WWE, you might as well just bin the tag division now. | |
