Regarding plans for the ECW Championship at WrestleMania XXV, well, there aren't any.
Unless plans change just before the show (or they do a dark match), ECW Champion Jack Swagger will not be defending his belt at the pay-per-view.
Vince McMahon lost faith in Swagger after his lackluster outing with Finlay at last month's No Way Out pay-per-view. While McMahon still wants to push him, they don't feel he's ready for live television quite yet.
Had McMahon decided on letting Swagger compete at WrestleMania, his opponent would have been Evan Bourne. As a result, he will be left off the card too.
In another sign indicating the company has no plans on having an ECW Championship match take place at WrestleMania, company officials opted to make next week's edition of ECW on Sci Fi an "All-Divas" special promoting the 25-Diva Battle Royal instead of building towards something regarding the ECW Championship at the event. Following next week's show, there will only be one week to go and almost no time to build up an ECW match at WrestleMania. WWE wanted to make use of next week's episode of ECW to at least promote something relevant regarding WrestleMania, hence the "All-Divas" special.

| No hard cheese for him really, he's been a whirlwind success compared t a lot of the other younger talent.
He's survived this recent cull and that in itself is a clear vote of confidence if nothing else, he'll have plenty of chances to be at future Wrestlemania's.

| More so gutted for Bourne. Showcasing his talents to such a global audience could have sent him catapulting up the roster. | |

| Swaggers got a bigger future in the WWE than Borune though, height alone tells us this
Its harsh on Swagger though if they follow through on this, his matches with Christian and Matt Hardy where excellent and I thought his TV match with Finlay was excellent too, one bad match shouldn't be held against him, and even if it where bad I would hardly call it his fault

| I think Vinnie's right really.
He has a big future and a Wrestlemania place wont make him a star but if he fecks it up it could go downhill very fast for him. It's obvious if your young these days you have to be near perfect and over.
Don't think it's worth the risk.

| I'm actually glad that there will be no ECW title match at Mania. Like the article said, they would have nearly no time to build up the match and the match between Bourne and Swagger could have had the potential to be awful depending on Bourne's fitness. I think Swagger will be involved in a dark match Battle Royal before the show with competitors from all 3 brands in which Evan Bourne returns and eliminates Swagger last to win the match. This would then set up a feud between the two which begins at the first ECW after Mania. And the "All Diva" ECW sounds awful. | |
