Mersyside Derby Socks

Does anyone know why people were throwing socks/ bits of cloth at the pitch and players last night?

Everton are meant to be moving to Kirkby for there new stadium, back in the 50s and 60s it wasn't the best part of the country to live, Its a bit of an Urban Myth, house breakers used to go in through the back garden and they would steal the socks and put them over there hands so they didn't leave finger prints

So Liverpool where chanting "Sock Robbers" at the Everton fans and players while throwing socks on

I read it was to do with a similar thing to gaffer, but they were so bad in Kirby that they would even steal your socks if you left them out on the washing line.

jokes on the stupid liverpool fans then lol. they are the ones going home with cold feet! haha

Yes, thats what I meant, the robbers would go through the back garden and use the socks they had on the line to put over there hands
