| The Daily Mail claims that Premier League clubs will hold a landmark meeting to discuss a potential reformatting of the current, and ever-controversial, transfer system.
In particular, the delegates from England's top-tier teams will address the possibility of closing the January window permanently to put a stop to the inter-club bickering that breaks out every New Year's.
This winter has been especially full of discontent, as bosses across the country have accused one another of improper conduct and illegal approaches for certain players.
Wigan gaffer Steve Bruce recently claimed that Manchester City inquired after Wilson Palacios (pictured) with the sole aim of unsettling the Honduran and pushing him toward Tottenham Hotspur, who in turn would step aside to allow City a free run at Craig Bellamy.
"It just benefits big clubs because they can pray more on clubs like us [Wigan]," Bruce recently said of the current transfer layout.
Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate is another who has openly criticised the player-trading setup as it stands, as he believes it takes the focus away from football.
"It's a nonsense the way it is and purely a distraction for players at this time," Southgate told the press recently.
But it isn't just the less fashionable clubs complaining. Liverpool are planning to report Tottenham to the Premier League for tapping-up Robbie Keane, after Spurs boss Harry Redknapp admitted he liked the player.
And so, in an attempt to put an end to all this feuding, the clubs will meet next Thursday to mull over alternative options, such as a return to the year-round system.
This is sure to attract the attention of FIFA and UEFA, as an abandonment of the current scheme would put England out of phase with the rest of Europe.

| This wont happen obviously, but it would be nice.
The January transfer window isn't for us, it's for other countries that have seasons ending at the end of the year, mainly South American and Asian leagues. It just has to open for everyone that's all. Shutting it would be just like saying fuck football everywhere else. I mean, imagine having just January for transfers, be well shit. | |
