| This is a column originally written for wzrradio.com and prowrestlingscoops.com.
After reading the article posted by wzrradio.com columnist Roxxi Laveaux Fanboy, I felt I needed to throw my penny’s worth of an opinion into the mix on the subject of house shows, principally WWE house shows. To put it simply they are the life support of the whole WWE business model. If they one day fall flat on their faces, they are safe in the knowledge that they have built up strong rapports with arenas in which to host shows. More importantly however, house shows provide an everybody-wins scenario for both the fans and the WWE. The fans get to see their favourite superstars in action, and WWE gets a quite considerable income from it. They are as important in the US as they are abroad. Here in the UK, they come twice a year, but maybe once to my town, and I dont want to have to drive on a week night 2hrs and back to Birmingham or 4hrs to London or Bristol to see a TV show, I can watch it at home for considerably less cost. What house shows do is gives you the opportunity to watch the shows locally, they get you to come out because theyre slightly cheaper(well they have been for me at any rate) and they’re local, so you go for the fun of it, without needing to spend a small fortune getting there and back. By the way WWE gets a lot of exposure on our leading sports network over here so people who watch professional wrestling over here watch WWE, TNA until recently was a lot harder to find, and many people still dont know about it.
Also house shows in the USA are no different to house shows in the UK. In essence they tour America the same way they tour Australia, Italy and Canada, just because it is where they’re based they devote the majority of the year to touring. They will run the TV Shows in the big arenas in the bigger cities but will provide house shows for the smaller towns in the area for other fans benefit, the same if they do a TV show in London, they dont expect people to travel down from Manchester or Newcastle, so they put house shows on there. It makes perfect sense. House shows are and will be integral part of the WWE’s model for the foreseeable future, and its not their fault the superstars get injured. It is purely the superstars problem, because when they signed the contract to work for the WWE, in that they accepted that they would have to participate in house shows every weekend, its part of the business and its the risk they chose to take, so they have to live by what happens when it goes wrong. Kennedy is unfortunately very injury-prone, and if he wants to stay fit and healthy he’s in the wrong business.
One thing the current WWE product lacks that was so evident in its hey-day during the Attitude Era is stables. In pro wrestlings prime there were factions such as DX, the NWO, and before that groups like The Four Horseman. Nowadays we have one rather weak stable in La Familia, the reason I say it is weak is because unless it has Edge they flop, like last week on Smackdown when Undertaker buried them. With Edge they would have beaten Taker down, so really, it is a stable built around 1 man, which is ok, but gets tedious after a while when it doesn’t really push anyone else up to a significant level. Ok Vickie gets far more heat, but thats as much to do with her lack of talent and horrible performances as much as it is her heel character, if not more.
So what do I propose? More stables, and I think this idea could work especially on the RAW brand.
You have a guy like JBL, who is good on the mic, has a good character(portraying his self-made millionaire status with a huge ego planted on top), but on his own he can grow a bit stale sometimes, and his in-ring work is poor at best most of the time. However back in his hey-day he had a stable on Smackdown called The Cabinet for those who didn’t watch wrestling back then, and it had a tag-team of enforcers(The Bashams) and a mid-card guy(Orlando Jordan). You know have the perfect tag-team in Simply Priceless to slot in with him into The Cabinet, and why not use a guy like Elijah Burke, who you have nothing for but could instantly elevate into feuds with Kofi Kingston and the other big names on RAW and make him useful. He certainly has far more talent than Orlando Jordan.
I find Batista stale, I think he needs a heel turn ASAP, because you just can’t have a tame animal. So why not team him up with Orton when he returns, bring in two young guys from FCW, and re-form Evolution?, I think Orton is actually quite good on the mic and he and Batista I think can only improve, Batista especially if he can manage to put some menace into his voice. So we have The Cabinet, Evolution and CTC(Cryme Tyme Cena), which you could have CM Punk align himself with to seem young, cool and get him over with the kids even more, or leave him stuck in the middle of all these stables and have him a kind of lone warrior, though saying that I would prefer Kane to dissappear and return as masked Kane with Paul Bearer and fill that role.
What I have demonstrated is one of many ways you can freshen up WWE’s product and its not really making any big changes(Masked Kane and heel Batista), and it could work very well especially with Survivor Series around the corner.
Thats all for this weeks edition of “The Way I See It”, have any thoughts? Email me @ yuri_dinesh@yahoo.co.uk.

| Reading through again i agree with la familla beign weak and not a deep strong stable . Hence why i think we need this new-era generation stable that rumours have started sooner rather than later. | |

| LaFamilia have forever been weak, the only thing that looked like it could carry it was Edge and possibly Bam Neely although Bam has not lived up to the early hope that I had for him.
Stables have been a major part of the wrestling business for what seems to be ever but with the brand split and both brands being so slim, its just not plausable for factions at this moment in time!

| I think La Famila could have done better with a young guy in it, maybe instead of Chavo, DH Smith, who could have turned on Edge and got himself over. Instead it had the leader in Edge, the manager in Vickie and the tag team, but then had Chavo and Neeley | |
