Rock vs. HBK???

For the past few years, it has been said that WWE has tried to put together a program between The Rock and Shawn Michaels for WrestleMania. I heard they even tried to do it at WrestleMania 24 before deciding to have HBK retire Ric Flair. But, I have also heard that The Rock had declined the program every time saying that "HBK is not as big a star as The Rock".

What do you guys think about this and would you pay to see a match between them? I know I would.

I have to say I'd have liked to see it but I don't think we'll ever ever see The Rock get back in the ring. He's desperate to leave his wrestling past behind and I think by time (if ever) he changes his mind, HBK will be long gone.

Funny how they kept missing each other. Just as Rock was becoming huge, Michaels retired (early 98). I'm not so sure about dates after that but wasn't Rock leaving around the time HBK came back?

Id pay to see HBK against anyone, the guy is pure class.

However, id love to see the Rock in action live rather than from a TV set, he's one of the all time bests, never seen someone sell moves quite so well as he does!

If that quote from the Rock is true, he's slightly up himself dont ya think?

I have a lot of respect for guys who actually stay away from the ring when they say that they're going to (*cough* Foley *cough*).

And anyway, why should he come back? He makes just as much money if not more, he has less work to do, he won't be crippled by the time he's 50, he already has a great legacy and the business on a whole is on its arse.

Back to the topic tho, id love to see a HBK/Rock match, both hugely talented

One thing that would bother me is who would be the face?

They're both pretty versatile but I still prefer them both as faces, especially The Rock. They could do a Cena/Batista (or Rock/Austin come to think of it) thing were there isn't a clear face or heel which could work pretty well as long as they held it in a neutral area.

The Rock has got the 'you sold out' attitude from the crowd to get him over as decent heel, but why would you come back for a match to be booed out the building?

Would have to build it up as a specticle, claiming eachother are the best in the history of this industry etc.

True, guess it would depend on circumstances. If it was a one off they would want Rock to lose but would he come back for a loss? Especially since he lost his last match. Probably not. Plus I doubt HBK would mind either, everyone seems to go over him these days, he's more interested in the match itself (which is a great thing btw).

If it were to happen, I think The Rock would win. He'd have to if he were only coming back for one match and I don't think he'd come back for more than one unless he were paid a lot of cash for it.

It all really depends on if he it would be coming back to stay....or a one time thing

well the the rock might come back for wrestle mania against hbk but he will probably be paid like that boxer who fought the big show in the last wrestle mania

and i thought he would just get booed out, he made it to hollywood and hes as big or bigger than hbk and it would be so awesome to see a old wrestler in hd but i think stone cold would come back before the rock would

and why would the rock come back to take a beating to please the fans, he may be a nice guy but i though he would want to damage his body like he did when he was fighting back then

They would pull of a good match but come on know wwe would have to pay a lot of money for Rock to wresle one match and would it be worth it.

Its not worth the gamble of al that money and thats assuming rock would even do it for the money.

End of the day The Rock turned his back on wwe for fame and fortune. His loss. We don't need him in wwe. We have plenty of up and coming stars and old loyal ones. Screw him.

Dwayne Johnson makes around $10m per movie, which would take him around 4/5 months to film, one film per year and he is made, on the otherhand he could burst his nuts in the WWE for 200/250 days per year for around $3m!

It's a match that would have EPIC written all over it though, particularly if it was scheduled in 2000 or 2001. I have no doubts that if Michaels had not received that injury they would have brought the house down on many a main event PPV however it must be noted that The Rock allegedly has no time for ol' HBK after the way Michaels apparently treated the Rocks family during a wrestling show in the early 90s

Dwayne Johnson did what he did at the right time, he saw the business begin to fold in front of his eyes, the attitude era had slipped away, there was no serious competition for the WWF/E and ratings along with storylines began to decline. He was then offered the chance to work less and be paid far more money and having saw many colleagues die before they hit 50 he did what was best for HIM

The WWE do not and never did before the Rock have anyone who could hold a crowd like him to say the WWE don't need him is ridiculous

If The Rock were to come back, it would be on his terms, and that would mean he definitely not be facing HBK. The Rock absolutely hates Shawn Michaels, after he dissed a member of his family (his mum or gran I think) at a wrestling show they were promoting years ago, The Rock has never forgotten this. Also when The Rock was starting to get big, Michaels was constantly trying to bury him by trying to veto fued ideas that creative had for him.

If the Rock came back and that's a BIG if then HBK wouldnt be the carrot to tempt him.
For me the only guy that could get Rock back at Mania would be his old foe Austin.

True Austin would be the only one, but I don;t think he would come back either. The Rock was great. I'd love to see him battle HBK, but it's not going to happen. He'll never go for it. Plus HBK will be gone soon anyway. The WWE needs to focus on the new superstars, a new generation of wrestling.

Stone Cold I am pretty sure will return to the WWE on something of a full time basis, You can forget the Rock, maybe in around 10 years time when he reflects and wants some cheep cheery pop for old time sake he might take in a match or two!

For the record Austin does love the business, that is why I am certain he will do a Michaels and eventually come back when he believes his injuries can hold up to it, I have seen it to many times in the past, for me to just believe he is done, the only problem I have though is the longer he is away the bigger he seems to get, I would have him back in an instant however if he turned up like Foley I would take him to the top of the building then offer him a window!

No more Foley's. By the way, when is he gunna give it up? I hope Austin returns sometime, but not against Michaels, against Vince.

I would love to see an Austin return and like I already have stated I believe it will happen, however I dont want just yet another random return, and Vince is far to old now, Austin would need to dedicate 4-6 months of his life to getting back into tip top shape and then he could have proper feuds with real wrestlers instead of going over old ground with his old nemesis!
