- Speaking to OXM, the Lead Gameplay Designer on FIFA 12 has said that they’ve made the biggest changes to the series since the current generation revamp in 2007. That iteration saw the game’s first appearances on HD consoles and included changes to gameplay such as ball spin being affected by the pitch and each individual player’s ability and strength with each foot.
The new Impact Engine removes the need for stock collision animations and makes factors such as momentum have a much greater relevance to tackles. Aaron McHardy, the Lead Gameplay Designer, says that the new engine allows for a lot more accuracy and fluidity in the collision detections. As always with the yearly franchise, they’re also looking to the future with this upgrade.
When you think about the resilience of the player and the ability for someone to take a hit and continue dribbling, we didn’t have that ability before in our game because you were either dribbling or you were stumbling. Now we have that grey area and it’s something we can play with down the line, just to give you some vision of where we see these kind of things going.
FIFA 12′s new Impact Engine has a lot to live up to if these claims are to be realised on its release. With last year’s huge improvements to the PES series and more promised this year, it will be very interesting to see how the dominant FIFA franchise answers that increased competition.

| The 3DS version will have no online mode although EA have said they could easily add it in the future via an update... typical EA lazyness I say The 3DS version will feature carear mode, 11vs11, street mode and pro mode amongst others, but no mention on if it will use the Street Pass and Spot Pass 3DS features yet. BTW they are still questions as to whether Andy Gray will be commentating in the game or not. | |

| FIFA 12 has been formally announced (surprise!) along with a whole bunch of information. EA are calling it "revolutionary not evolutionary."
At the heart of the changes is the new Player Impact engine. The product of two years work, we got a peek at it earlier today with that leaked trailer. It's looking pretty tasty.
"The Player Impact Engine processes decisions continuously in real-time at every point of contact on a player's body to create an infinite variety of natural and believable outcomes in every collision," say EA.
Rather interestingly, the new player physics will also apply to injuries, with the game tracking "the force of the collision and impact on the body," creating appropriate physical damage.
In addition to this there have been tweeks to precision dribbling and tactical defending. There will also be enhanced pro player AI, meaning that top players will act in a realistic manner according to their personality.
Expect Drogba to spend most of the game rolling around like someone has slashed his achilles tendon with a machete, then.
Career mode gets a feature bump too, encompassing "real-world storylines" involving player morale, form and league position.
The games themselves, meanwhile, are promised to have a "real-world broadcast look and feel", with "dramatically improved lighting," "more authentic crowds" and a new default camera angle.

| It doesn't look that different...honestly, that could have just been a trailer for Fifa 11 and I wouldn't have noticed a difference. - Quote :

Hopefully this means that you won't get stupidly bad injuries to your players for one little nudge.

| Very slightly different. I reckon that because we saw a huge change between fifa 10 and fifa 11 we're not going to see any big changes for a couple of years now.
It's so hard to go back to Fifa 10 after playing 11, the dribbling is much different. I doubt Fifa 12 will be that different.

| It's been confirmed that the 3DS version will have DLC and also game updates via Spot Pass which will add new kits, add/swap players, etc... to keep it up to date with the new season.
Sadly no online or use of Street Pass (no idea why as the 3DS could easily handle both)... which is a shame especially with Street Pass as they could have easily added like a manager game to it where you create your own team, unlock players for it (or buy them with play coins), then when your 3DS goes near another 3DS they have a match with player stats determining the outcome (ie, like Street Fighters trophy battle).

Atcually the 3DS battery can last for 3 days on stand-by without charging and your supposed to leave it on all the time to get Spot Pass, Street Pass and also to get play coins using the pedometer. At the moment i've only had 3 Spot Passes (and 1 of them was from Gamestation) although I still carry it around with me hidden just to get play coins as i'm addicted to Mii Quest. BTW Fergie Street Pass is designed to be used on stand by in a bag or pocket so it will interact with a passing 3DS... also they must be fannies playing it whilst walking as the 3D blurs if you move about.

| Just watching E3 live on youtube. Fifa have just been on and it looks so good. New online features with Fifa 12 Football Club, where they put on real world storylines (like in the world cup game.) looks epic. | |
