- WWE creative has had discussions over the past few weeks about signing UFC fighter Roy Nelson to compete at January’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view. If this would happen, Nelson will be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble 30-Man Battle Royal.
The main person against the idea is Vince McMahon. Vince is still hopeful that Brock Lesnar will work WrestleMania 27 and feels that if Nelson works Royal Rumble, it would cheapen a possible appearance by Lesnar with two MMA fighters working big WWE angles in just a few months.
McMahon has also expressed concern about not wanting to hurt his good standing with UFC President Dana White.

| Must be shite being a wrestler for a long time, then getting excluded from the RR for him. | |

| If he was a surprise entrant, I'd not have a clue who he was. Surely Rampage Jackson would be a better guy to use (and could also then face Taker, rather than Brock?). | |

| I reckon Roy "Big Country" Nelson is perfect for WWE as he is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is known for his technical ground game and submissons which is something WWE needs these days as they don't have many technical submission artists these days like they did back when they had Kurt Angle, Bret Hart, Chris Beniot, etc... and I wouldn't to a see Daniel Bryan vs Roy Nelson fued.

i think the reason they are going for belson is because there are problems with his contract with the UFC, so he technically isnt under contract to them so wont need dana whites permission, which hewould need if he were to try and get lesnar or rampage

| I thought Lesnar's contract was suspended on medical grounds, to help him heal. | |
