| While listening to Talk sport on the radio on the way home from work, there was quite an intresting debate weather Rafael van der Vaart was allowed to sign for Tottenham some 21 hours after the deadline. Some people were saying it shouldnt of been allowed because they have had months to sign players so why wait to so close to the deadline. Others were saying it should be allowed. The only hold ups were because it was an international transfer.
So, the question. what do you think?
Personally, I think if the two teams agree a fee and that paperwork is sent to the relevent people before the deadline regarding the confirmed fee and stating that the deal will go through if the medical is passed and personal terms are agreed.
If there is no agreed fee between two clubs then no deal. simple as that.

| i think soon the deadline will be scrapped and clubs will be allowed to sign anyone at any time but i think the transfer should go ahead as they allowed 2 years ago Arshavin to sign for arsenal 2 days after the deadline so it shows its not 1 rule for 1 club and another for another club | |

| I agree with Fergie. Doubt they'll scrap it.
They mentioned it on the radio about the Arshavin deal, along with MArtin Fulop joining Man City last season. The point they made about that was man city had 8 keepers on their books so they shouldn't of been allowed to sign him.
But as I said, if the 2 clubs agree a fee then i think it should be ok.

| Keepers are a "specialist" position though, under FIFA ruling anyway.
Like, in the World Cup every team needed to take 3 keepers but if they were all injured they would still be allowed to call another one up, presume the Prem works under a similar system.
