New speculation on Danielson's release

- Beckett.com has an article up looking at whether or not Daniel Bryan was really released from WWE earlier this year. Apparently Bryan’s new WWE Topps trading card wasn’t originally scheduled for the set of cards that just came out but was added in July some time to the production list. The original checklist didn’t have Bryan listed but he is in the new set – card #68 in the 110-card set. The cards were printed between July 2nd and July 16th, well before the SummerSlam pay-per-view where WWE decided to bring Bryan back.

Personally I dont care if he did or didn't get released as long as hes back thats all that matters

I think he did get released, but only because somebody outside of the WWE pushed it, but WWE knew they were going to resign him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was actually released because I dont see why they would allow him to work independent shows if he was still under contract

to not get any ring rust, if he wrestled in FCW etc people would know he hadnt been released

Thats a good point but I meant in that why would they let him make money for another wrestling company

Make it look more real...hardly gonna damage WWE.

keeps Danielson happy as he continues to bring in some money for a while, would probably only make him unhappy if he wern't allowed to make money

The whole thing smells of a work, the reason given for his release seemed piss poor at the time so it wasn't exactly shocking to see him back. WWE guys do sometimes work independent shows so long as they have WWE's backing. They might have released him just to make the story seem more genuine though, like WCW did with Brian Pillman, only this time it didn't come back to bite them.

If it's a work perhaps WWE wanted Danielson nowhere near the Nexus angle, so he could come back as a proper face
