PostSubject: Carlito on his release   Carlito on his release EmptyWed Jul 07, 2010 6:52 pm

Quote :
FORMER WWE star Carlito has hit out at his release from the company and claimed: "I am not addicted to pills."
The Puerto Rican grappler was axed in May after failing a drug test and subsequently refusing to attend rehab.

But the 31-year-old insists he had been keen to call time on his professional wrestling career long before his dismissal.

Carlito said: "I had been trying to leave for about three years. For the last year, I was just miserable. I wasn't even myself. I was dying just to get away.

"I wouldn't say I got myself fired on purpose, but in that last year, I really didn't care. I wanted to get away.

"They wanted me to go to rehab. My opinion was I didn't need it. I'm not addicted to pills.

"I was depressed. That thing just creeps up on you. I have scripts for pain medication — I have legit reasons for using them.

"I was abusing them as anti-depressants instead. I remember other people not in WWE would tell me to go to rehab because it looks good on paper.

"I said, 'One, I don't want to keep my job. Two, I'm not going to admit to a problem I don't have.'"

Carlito exploded onto the WWE scene in 2004, winning the United States championship on his debut.

And he looked set for a bright future with Vince McMahon's company, later winning the Intercontinental and Tag Team titles.

But rumours began circulating that Carlito was a lazy and disruptive influence backstage and he failed to reach the top level within the organisation.

And he claimed being forced to ditch his heel character was one of the main reasons for his unhappiness.

Carlito added: "They turned me babyface and I refused to be a babyface. It wasn't that I was being lazy, but it wasn't just me.

"I'm a little disgruntled with the business. I actually have a lot of passion for the business, but I get to the point where I'm very frustrated with certain things.

"I'm a very vocal person. I don't keep my mouth shut. I don't kiss anybody's ass. I like to give input and if I don't agree with something, I'm not going to just stand by and keep my mouth shut.

"I would just like to apologise for the past three years because I disrespected a lot of people. I was just bitter and miserable. I was in a dark place.

"I'm still just bitter. I'm holding so much in. I'm glad I've had some time off and I'm trying to take the high road."

So, reading between the lines...

He did it on purpose to get sacked?

I don't know whether he actually did it purposefully to get fired. I think he just didn't care whether he got caught or not. It pretty much sums up his entire WWE career.

Give me an example of this? Because I think it's bollocks.

As for Carlito, this article made me really dislike him, I don't know what he was expecting from the WWE, they tried to push him a few times, and he just showed that he couldn't be arsed, nothing to do with turning face, even when he was a heel he was lazy.

He's ungrateful.

TNA do not need anybody else, their roster is already massive, far too big, and I can imagine Carlito would find something to complain about there and be lazy once again.

There are other ways he could have got himself fired, though. No-showing events, injuring Randy Orton... bit shite that he chose the Wellness route.

I saw him and Primo wrestle Miz and Morrison at a house show a couple of years back, and of the two brothers, Primo was the one who actually looked like he cared and tried to do stuff, whereas Carlito just cruised and didn't bother getting out of first gear.

The character is a heel character, but with a different type of character, the guy who is MVP could be face.

He said, that some people are born to be heel.

Booker was also involved in an armed robbery, and sentenced to five years in prison, although he only served part of that sentence.

And Ron Killings was a drug dealer.

Let's say you weren't part of a wrestling forum, would you know about MVP being a convicted criminal? I don't think it has ever been mentioned on-screen, and he doesn't look particuarly menancing.

The fact that R-Truth was a criminal was used as a way to get him over as a face.

I can't remember either of them being openly acknowledged as having been crminals. usually it's glossed over with the old 'colourful past', 'tough upbringing', 'made mistakes', 'now a better person looking to change' stuff.

Although thinking about it, I'm sure Swagger made some comments about MVP being a ciminal during their short run at Summerslam last year (or the year before, they kind of blend into one when you get to my age).

But did R-Truth's promo video's specifically say he did time in prison? I can't remember them!

And MVp, did he ever say why he was banged up? Or just made wrong choices, paid the price, yada yada yada...?

Your arguement was because he was criminal it meant he couldn't be face, I was telling you that if they didn't mention it, you wouldn't know he was a criminal, therefore that is irrelevant.
