- As reported earlier, WWE SmackDown moving to the SyFy Channel this fall could spell the end of the company's new NXT show on the cable network. While there was talk that the series was "canceled," WWE is reportedly not ready to pull the plug yet and is currently seeking a new home for the show.
According to sources, WWE has had preliminary discussions with the Bravo cable network, which is also part of the NBC Universal family (along with USA Network & SyFy.) There's also the possibility of airing the show on WWE.com.
We'll keep you posted as we get more. I initially thought that they'd replace nXt with Smackdown on a tuesday night. I can't see the concept of nXt lasting too much longer to be honest

| I said after 3 weeks that NXT has absolutely no shelf life, they could do a second season, but after that then what?
I'd just like to see the WWE using the hour a lot more productively

| I thought I heard them say 17 weeks, so they could basically be doing 3 seasons a year | |

| So do we get one guy called up and then the other 7 sent back to florida? I can't see that. I can see two of Otunga/Danielson/gabriel/Barrett moving onto RAW/SD and the remainder staying on NXT with the two graduates being replaced by Joe Henning and someone else......Heaven forbid.........Low Ki?
I was expecting a reality element to this too. The 'mentors' actually mentoring. Breaking kayfabe to do it.
Why was Danielson put with the Miz? Because the Miz is charismatic and Danielson isn't. It would be pointless putting danielson with regal because he's already a good wrestler. I want to see the Miz sitting with Danielson and telling him how to cut a promo. I want to see K-Kwik telling david otunga how to slow down between moves. regals guy to not walk his arse in front of the camera when entering the ring....thats part of the beautiful peoples gimmick....not yours you big oaf.
Thats what we want to see isnt it?

| From what I read I think the winner gets a RAW contract and the runner up gets a SD contract, I think the rest are all headed back to FCW although since they are all with the WWE anyway they can be called up at anytime
I can see Young going into the SES with Bryan and probably Barrett being the 1st and 2nd place
I was worried that the mentors would break kayfabe, I think it would have hurt Jericho and Punk if they where seen out of character, that was one of the biggest drawbacks I had about the mentors

| If you keep it completely seperate from all other WWE programming, then breaking kayfabe is ok. Tough enough already broke those walls down. target NXT at the smarter, older demograph and you have a decent show on your hands. This is just WWECE on the cheap. | |

| I don't think you can keep it seperate now though, I don't think you can have CM Punk being a borderline psychopath going on about being SE and being a savior then seeing him in his true light, same with Jericho, he as tried so hard to make the fans hate him, seeing him in his natural light will only make people like him | |

| You don't have guys like that as mentors. You can have faces no problem, but with a roster that big, you can set aside 17 weeks where those lower in the card can be removed from storylines. It means they can be reintroduced with a different spin or whatever...I haven't ironed it all out in my brain, but I'm not entirely against the idea.
Kayfabe isn't that important any more....maybe therein lies the problem.
I don't think Jericho is that precious about it. Otherwise he wouldn't be twittering all the time.

I don't think Jericho is that precious about it. Otherwise he wouldn't be twittering all the time. I think Jericho is very precious about it, thats why he has totally transformed his character, even down to changing into trunks and stopping the countdown on his theme, all of those where his decision, he wanted to be scene as a more serious type of character, it'd be impossible to portray one gimmick on one show and another on a different show, and remember NXT is taped the same night as SmackDown! so Jericho would also be playing both of those roles out infront of the same live audiance as well, he'd look more Bi-Polar than John Cena I also think Kayfabe is very important, its evolved since the 80s but in this day and age I do feel that Kayfabe has a big part to play, more so when the characters are reverting back to a more black and white basis

| None of the things I mention would be in front of a live audience.
One camera on a behind the scenes mentoring type role. The stuff played out before the audience could and should be nxt talent only. I am sure that would hold a greater appeal than what is on offer at present.
I respect your point of view though as I do agree there is a worth to kayfabe for a PG audience, but you can't put the genie back in the bottle for a smarter audience. With tweaking, I am sure it could work. We had HHH teaching how to make a bump look good on tough enough. Whilst that format wasn't perfect, NXT gives a far better platform for that kind of idea to work. 8 contestants, 8 mentors. Heel or face is irrelevant as they are imparting what they know about the business.
I see what you are saying about Jericho, but by his tweeting, we know he's not adverse to acting outside the realms of kayfabe. Not that he would necessarily have to do so. Perhaps its worth us talking about how kayfabe fits in to pro wrestling these days. Other than that though, I think thi style of show holds a greater attraction than it does at present.
