WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2018 Confirmed

Legal Eagles for THQ and wrestling organisation WWE have spent the best part of six years battling over a previous deal regarding WWE games but have recently come to an agreement. MCV report that THQ will pay WWE $13.2 million and in return THQ now have the rights to publish WWE games until 2018. THQ president and CEO Brian Farrell slipped in to a pair of skimpy lycra briefs, smothered himself in oil and smashed a chair over the head of his PA before saying this,

“This agreement ensures that WWE games will continue to be an important cornerstone of THQ’s annual release schedule for the long term. We look forward to working directly with WWE to expand their brand in the video game space through continued game play innovation and increased online delivery of WWE content.”

So to summerise: Annual WWE games until 2018

Am I in the minority that enjoy WWE games? Not so much for the storyline modes or anything but the graphics are great

Graphics are by far the least important thing in a wrestling game in my view. The actual gameplay needs to improve a lot, and the career modes are an absolute joke now. I tend to play either Here Comes The Pain which is about 6 years old now but has a great career mode, or Fire Pro Returns which has 2D graphics but the gameplay is top notch.

I've heard good things about the Fire Pro series. I had one for the GBA a few years ago and I downloaded it on the PC. Anybody know if there are any out or planned for the PS3?

Doubt it, Fire Pro Z was supposed to be the last one, but then they released Returns which will prob be the end of the series. The GBA ones were quite good, but Returns was much better. Best match I've ever had in any wrestling game was in Fire pro Returns, a 42 minute classic between Kenta Kobashi and Mitsuhara Misawa. I lost, but didn't mind because the match was just that damn good.

i stopped enjoying them when they dropped the general manager mode

I had high hopes for the GM mode, but I thought the actual execution of it was done very poorly. I ended up getting bored of it after about a month or two's booking. Could have been so much better than it was, so don't really think it's much of a loss.

ah well i enjoyed it and wasnt there a create a PPV part on the game which they dropped?

The GM mode was pretty rubbish, you couldn't even choose who won.

That's only if you had it on a lower difficulty, or got the person you wanted to lose disqualified or counted out all the time or whatever.

For a 'GM' game I prefer TEW, EWR is pretty good as well.

I play a lot of EWR and TEW. I can spend hours a day playing them and not even notice

Speaking of great matches had on wrestling games, last year, I participated as CM Punk in an epic Money In The Bank match lasting well over an hour which I won! Everyone had full red body damage except me (my arms were yellow lol).

The create a pay-per-view wasn't the greatest in my opinion. All you could do is create the name and make the card. You had to use an existing pay-per-view stage.

As for GM mode, i thought it was quite good. But the story lines they offered were poor.
